The Missouri General Assembly is the state legislature of Missouri.
The general assembly may provide by law for the introduction of bills during the period between the first day of December and the first Wednesday after the first Monday of January.
The general assembly shall reconvene on the first Wednesday after the first Monday of January after adjournment at midnight on May thirtieth of the preceding year."

 Missouri Department of Mental Health
In her subsequent history, Missouri established three additional institutions for the mentally ill. St. Joseph State Hospital was established by an act of the Missouri General Assembly in 1872.
The Missouri State School was established by an act of the 40th General Assembly in 1899 and opened in 1901, with three buildings and sixty male patients.
The 70th General Assembly in 1959 designated the three units as the Marshall State School and Hospital, the Carrollton State School and Hospital, and the Higginsville State School and Hospital, with all three units operating under one superintendent.

Attorney General Nixon has filed legal action against 33 women inmates in Missouri to confiscate monies received from Internet pen pal services — some of which featured provocative photos – under a Missouri law allowing the state to recoup the cost of a prisoner’s incarceration.
Attorney General Nixon announced a 47-state settlement in which Western Union will begin educating consumers, including its own customers, that wire transfers are often sent by victims of scams.
Nixon and attorneys general from across the country confronted Western Union, insisting more be done to spot fraudulent wire transfers and alert customers to the warning signs.

JEFFERSON CITY – On April 29, the Missouri Senate truly agreed to and finally passed Senate Bill 740, dealing with value-added agriculture and a host of other issues important to Missouri agriculture.
Because this omnibus ag bill passed the Missouri House of Representatives the previous week, it now goes to Governor Bob Holden for his consideration.
