Mister Miracle is a DC Comics superhero created by Jack Kirby, originally as part of The Fourth World series of titles.
Scott Free is the most famous Mister Miracle but is actually the second character to hold that name in DC Comics; in Kirby's "New Gods" system, he is the God of Escaping, and can escape from anything.
Mister Miracle III was the brother of a policeman killed by a gang leader.

Mister Miracle is easily one of the coolest superheroes ever created.
The original Mister Miracle series was one of Jack Kirby’s finest works, blending the psychedelic space opera of the other books in his Fourth World line with genuinely suspenseful escape-artist action.
The colors during the scenes of Mister Miracle and Metron are incredibly vibrant, almost as though each page has a built in light source.

Even I have some of the original Mister Miracle comics and have created PDF files creating several of them and the color is just fine.
If you are a true Mister Miracle fan or comic book collector of any sort please be advised to skip this one and wait for a color version.
Mister Miracle found himself in more conventional superhero stories that had less and less to do with the Fourth World.

Mister Miracle was captured by Manga Khan when the Cluster first arrived on Earth (JLIA-015), but was rescued by his JLI comrades just before he could b e traded to Granny Goodness for a Boom Tube (JLIA-021).
Due to other pressing concerns, the members of Justice League America did not notice the substitution, and before the truth came out, the robot was blown up by Despero, causing the Leaguers to believe that Scott was dead (JLIA-039).

 Jack Kirby's Fourth World : Featuring: Mister Miracle
This is the second volume from DC that reprints Kirby's Mister Miracle (in fl and white with gray tones).
Mister Miracle was being aimed at more conventional super hero fare (or at least as conventional as Kirby could make it).
But don't worry too much, the last story in the volume is the wedding of Scott (Mister Miracle) Free and Barda and the entire cast of the New Gods shows up to make it a wedding slug fest in the grand tradition of Kirby's Fantastic Four Wedding.

The “new” Mister Miracle is “a cross between David Blaine and Puff Daddy” (from DC’s solicitation), which really should have been my first clue that something was rotten in the state of New Genesis.
Miracle or why this poser is wearing his costume.
The whole Mister Miracle #1 debacle should be quietly swept under the rug and replaced in a year or so with a story focusing on the real Mister Miracle.

 Don Markstein's Toonopedia: Mister Miracle
There was an occasional special or mini-series during the 1980s and '90s, and even another ongoing series that ran 1989-91 — this one distinguished by the writing of Mark Evanier (DNAgents) and the artwork of Steve Rude (Nexus).
While that series was running, Mister Miracle briefly became a member of one of the Justice League revivals.

As goofy as it seems when reduced to a title and a caption: Mister Miracle: Super-Escape Artist, it's moving and touching, and somehow real in a way that The New Gods never really achieves.
Perhaps as importantly, despite the sometimes heavy tone (particularly in the scenes on Apokolips--not a nice place, and not a place where all the sympathetic characters survive), Mister Miracle is fun.
Reading Mister Miracle really makes me see more of why so many writers want to play in Jack Kirby's toybox--there are stories that you can do with Scott Free and Big Barda that you really can't do with other interchangable super-folks.

It's gotten to the point where great issues now feel like the norm and a "good" issue is almost a let-down.
Such is the case with Miracle #3, which is certainly good, but is more-or-less just a constant in the stream of Seven Soldiers issues.
This is one of the more accessible of the Soldiers minis and features a surprising turn of events.

On the episode Twilight, Pt 2 at the end when they show the New Gods you can see Mister Miracle in the background.
Dammit, too bad I totally forgot about that show...I was too busy watching "Judas." :mad: :(I did see that episode once before, and that totally threw me for a loop.
I can't wait to see Miracle actually get into the action later on this year, I hope he will stay on the team for awhile instead of just showing up for a guest appearance.

His New Gods / Fourth World books were some of the best comics ever done -- a nice blending of world mythologies with the American comic-book mythos.
Miracle is his Heracles, Horace, Heru, etc., and is just as entertaining today as it was when it was first written.
The fl and white art may put off some potential readers, but Kirby's art sans the color really brings out the weight and depth of his lines.

 Comics Should Be Good: Is The New Mister Miracle Artist Good?
According to All The Rage (and confirmed by Williams himself), Mister Miracle replacement artist, Billy Dallas Patton, has been replaced by Freddie Williams II, best known (as was Patton) for his work on Noble Causes (specifically the flashbacks for the current Noble Causes storyline).
I like the Noble Causes piece the best, and I hope that is the style that he brings to Mister Miracle.
