Misznay-Schardin effect - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Misznay-Schardin effect refers to the characteristics of the detonation of a broad sheet of explosive.
The United States' Claymore mine relies on the Misznay-Schardin effect.
This effect was studied and experimented with by explosive experts Misznay, a Hungarian, and Dr.

Shaped charge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A shaped charge is an explosive charge shaped to focus the effect of the released energy.
This is also called the Munroe effect, discovered in 1888.
Various types are used to cut and form metal, initiate nuclear weapons, and penetrate armour.

 Claymore - Wikipedia
It was never perfected although the discovery of the Misznay-Schardin effect led to the current device.
The design was originally conceived by the Germans during WW2 as an anti-tank mine firing a steel slab.
Following the massed Chinese attacks during the Korean War, the US Army developed the mine into a anti-personnel device that would fire hundreds of small ball-bearings in one go.

Mechanical tripwire fuzes and electric cable are inherently resistant to the effects of overpressure, and are therefore normally unaffected by explosive mine countermeasures, unless the wire is cut by a line charge.

A mechanical tripwire fuze or electric cable is inherently resistant to the effects of overpressure, and pressure fuzes tend to use prongs rather than pressure plates.

 Spall
In antitank warfare, spalling is an intended effect of the high explosive squash head (HESH) anti-tank shells and of many other munitions which may not be powerful enough to pierce the armor of a target.
The relatively soft warhead flattens against the armor plating on tanks and other armored fighting vehicles and explodes, creating a shock wave that travels through the armor and breaks the softer metal on the inside.
This property, along with these elements' inherent toxicity and (often to a lesser extent) radioactivity, make them very dangerous to handle in metallic form.

Electrically activated, metal-fueled explosive device - Patent 5859383
The body may be tapered to create a localized high-pressure effect, called tamping, or it may be uniform, to uniformly increase the detonation pressure, or tapered to regulate the velocities of the liner and the confinement.
This type of explosive charge was the basis for the effect of the bazooka against metallic armor and for the deep penetration of shaped demolition charges when fired against reinforced concrete.
The original von Baader (1792) paper, however, primarily discussed bore hole drilling and loading, confinement effects on propellants, the positioning of a small air cavity between the explosive powder and the tamping (at best, a standoff distance effect), and rock fragmentation.

Shaped Charge.  (Jane's Mines and Mine Clearance 2002-2003) A warhead in which the explosive is specially shaped to achieve a directional effect.  Examples include HEAT (Munroe effect) and Misznay Schardin warheads.  See separate entries.
FAE generally has a substantially greater effect than the equivalent weight of conventional explosive, mainly because the oxygen needed for combustion is drawn from the atmosphere and not carried within the explosive.  The relatively long duration of the FAE pressure pulse has led to its use in mine clearance charges.
Detonation.  (Jane's Mines and Mine Clearance 2002-2003) The powerful explosive effect caused by the propagation of a high-speed shockwave through a high explosive compound or mixture.  During the process of detonation, the high explosive is largely decomposed into hot, rapidly expanding gas.
