I remember hearing Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels on the radio, along with the Rationals, they were the biggest local bands, then the Amboy Dukes.
R: I met Mitch the first time while I was with Tyner...late'77...he was just then forming his new band.
Mitch came and saw us play and wanted me and the drummer Ralph Serafino to join him then...we were already established and gigging with Tyner and turned him down.

Powertrane was formed early in 2001, just after local legend Scott Morgan finished his release, "Medium Rare." When Geoff Ginsberg, president of Real O Minds Records (Philadelphia), brought Robert Gillespie into Forty-Ounce Studio in Ann Arbor, Michigan to overdub the guitar work on Morgan's song, "Satisfier", the chemistry between Morgan and Gillespie was immediately apparent.
In the mid 70's, Gillespie was a charter member of the "New MC5" with Rob Tyner; later he and Johnny Angelos teamed up to form the notorious Torpedos.
Gillespie joined with Mitch Ryder's Detroit Wheels in the early 80's, started the Motor City Rockers (with ex-Romantic Jimmy Marinos) in the early 90's, and then returned to work with Mitch Ryder in the mid-90's to present.

North Carolina lawmakers are scheduled to vote next week on whether or not North Carolina will have a lottery, and Rep. Mitch Gillespie, R-McDowell, said he expects the lottery will fail.
One of several lottery proposals in the General Assembly would create a "local-option lottery." Under the bill, county commissioners could call for a vote on a lottery.
