McVicker's voice (in the same accident) was changed forever.
McVicker’s best support comes not from those he meets on his travels on the road, his family or the guys in the van that he plays with night after night -- Brad Layher, acoustic electrical guitarist and vocalist, Joe Curet, percussionist, or Sammy Horner, from Scotland, who plays bass guitar for the group.

Mitch: Once again I think they are true artists in the sense that they completely sink themselves into my music and get inside it though it may not be what they would do themselves.
Mitch: Turning Tables was one of the other songs I made up the last weekend before we went into the studio to record after we had rehearsed up some songs.

Many people will forever remember Mitch McVicker as the man who was in the Jeep with Rich Mullins (author of such popular songs as "Awesome God" and "Sing Your Praise to the Lord") when he was tragically killed in September 1997.
McVicker lay in a comma in the hospital for many days with substantial internal injuries, including a collapsed lung, crushed eye socket, and bleeding in the skull.
They all wish to continue their work with Compassion USA, and McVicker was very quick to point out that he hopes to continue to work with Hauck and Aukofer as a band.

They were on their way to a concert, and had been working on Mitch's first record.
This is that album, released in 1998 (and now re-issued by Rhythm House Records) while Mitch was still recovering from the accident (he suffered a severe head injury and broken bones).
Mitch is a gifted guitar player, able to play rhythm easily when needed and also switch to more of a picking style.

For those unfamiliar with the name Mitch McVicker, he's the young singer/songwriter who was touring with Rich Mullins when they got in an auto accident, which tragically ended Rich's life.
Mitch would certainly be one of the finalists for the "sounds most like Rich" award, but his songwriting (though Mullins-esque) just isn't on the same level as his late friend's.
This is not to imply that Mitch's music is without its merits and ministry value.

When Mullins relocated to New Mexico after graduation, he convinced McVicker to go with him, and together they wrote The Canticle of the Plains, a musical in which McVicker starred (and later made his recorded debut on the accompanying soundtrack album).
He began work on his debut album in 1997, with Mullins installed as co-producer; shortly after completing the record, both musicians were scheduled to perform live at a Wichita benefit, but they never arrived -- on September 19, Mullins was killed in transit in an auto accident which also left McVicker comatose.
