 Yamaguchi Prefecture Summary
Yamaguchi Prefecture is situated in the west of the Japanese island of Honshu.
Occupying an area of 6,108 square kilometers, Yamaguchi is bordered by the Sea of Japan, the Inland Sea, and the Hibiki Sea and by Shimane and Hiroshima prefectures.
The capital is the city of Yamaguchi located in the center of the prefecture.

Kairakuen is located in Mito, the capital of Ibaraki Prefecture, one hour northeast of Tokyo by limited express train.

MITO -- JCO Co. officials admitted in court on Monday they caused two workers' deaths through sloppy practices at the nuclear plant when it leaked radiation in 1999.
The former manager of the Tokai, Ibaraki Prefecture, plant, Kenzo Koshijima, added at the Mito District Court that he was guilty of causing the world's second-largest nuclear accident by approving the use of a metal bucket to treat radioactive materials.
Koshijima and five other officials, as well as JCO as a corporation, are accused of causing the deaths through negligence of Hisashi Ouchi, 35, and Masato Shinohara, 40, who died after the leak.

 Taikan YOKOYAMA-The Japanese Master and his works
Taikan Yokoyama was born in the Mito District in 1868, the eldest son of Sutehiko Sakai, a member of the samurai class of the Mito clan.
In 1889, he entered the first graduating class of Tokyo Fine Art School (now the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music).
