Mitsubishi Motors Australia Ltd. and Ralliart Australia have formed an increasingly closer relationship over the past few years, and the launch of the Ralliart Magna is a clear demonstration of this enduring relationship.
The basic Magna 6G74 engine as designed and developed by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) is so good, with its racing-style compact 4-valve combustion chambers, central spark plugs and well-shaped ports, that the MMAL engineers knew it must be capable of responding to tuning for higher output.
Magna's normal standard fully independent suspension, with its McPherson Strut and lower A-arm front, and multi-link with upper and lower control arms and coil spring rear, has generally been regarded as one of the most refined in its class.

Mitsubishi Magna AWD : Road Test : News & Reports : Motoring : Web Wombat   (Site not responding. Last check: )
Mitsubishi's AWD Magna is a great idea in theory, and a simple one too - you take a common Aussie family sedan with plenty of V6 grunt, then plonk an AWD transmission in there.
We've all read about how Mitsubishi Australia is tenaciously working as hard as it can to maintain a hold on its Australian operations, and it goes to say that the same tenacity to keep ahead of the pack (with minimal resources) can be seen in the locally produced AWD Magna.
The AWD Magna inspires a good deal of confidence in the driver, but it still feels as though it's missing that special something, and this may be explained partially in the neither-here-nor-there feedback through the steering wheel.

Mitsubishi Diamante - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Mitsubishi Diamante was first introduced to the public at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1989, and went on sale in Japan in May 1990.
It became the second generation Magna, replacing the widened 1983 Galant Sigma manufactured and sold in Australia (the 1987 Galant was downsized, thus leaving a gap in the product range for the Diamante).
At the time, Mitsubishi's image was also considered less than ideal for the marketing of a luxury car—its most expensive offering that the time, the Debonair, was largely seen as a company car project for Mitsubishi conglomerate executives.

2002 Mitsubishi Magna Ralliart - Road tests - CARSguide
The wildly winged Ralliart Magna is a car the South Australian carmaker needed to build to reverse its old-man image and capture some of the spirit and excitement the Ralliart name has created among the younger generation.
Unlike its traditional rear-drive rivals, the Mitsubishi puts all its power to the ground via the front wheels, through either a four-speed automatic with manual shift function or a five-speed manual, which comes with a limited-slip differential to increase traction and reduce torque steer.
Mitsubishi's slick five-speed manual gearbox helps -- and we tried the auto, which is also good -- while the limited-slip differential is brilliant.
