Mittry Lake may be small, but it has plenty of sunfish, as well as big bass and catfish, and lots of cool water to explore.
Mittry Lake itself is about 600 acres of water and 2,400 acres of marsh and upland.
The lake itself is almost hidden by the thick salt cedars and reeds that grow all along the banks, but there are a bunch of places with parking and well-used paths to the shore all along the east side of the lake.

The section near Mittry lake is producing smallmouth bass and large redear sunfish.

Management emphasis on Mittry Lake Wildlife Area is to optimize the wildlife habitat potential for present and future generations for public hunting and other wildlife-oriented recreation.
The management emphasis is based on the 1951 lease and cooperative agreement, which allows for the establishment of a public shooting area, waterfowl resting ground and provisions to improve conditions for the propagation of fish.

Canyon Lake is three of four lakes in the flow on Salt Creek.
Canyon Lake is 10 miles long with sparkling clear water, where wildlife including big horn sheep, deer and javelina wander the area and petrified logs are embedded into the rock formations.

Mittry has lots of shore access and has a ten day stay limit with no fees.
The water in the middle is Squaw lake.

 2004 Fish Reports
Very nice lake and I was the only one with a boat on it for two days straight.
I did hook into the lake trout record until the trout surfaced for the third time closer to the boat and I noticed it was transformed somewhere during the fight into a bullhead catfish weighing a good 10 to 15 lbs.
I new that the lake had changed a lot from all of your posts, but I figured the bass would still want some of the top water and jig bite I had learned.

Bartlett Dam and Lake, Salt River Project, is the closest lake to the Phoenix area on the Verde River.
Half the lake is a privately owned area, Ponderosa Pines, but you can turn before the community into the boat ramp area, park and then walk to the public half of the lake.
Lakes: Lakes within Unit 1 also provide some excellent waterfowling, especially near the shallow ends of these water bodies where emergent plant growth can be found.

every dam snow bird does it down there don't see you having any problems, there is some real nice camp grounds around mittry lake and there water front..
almost every body on mittry has a slow aluminum boat because its such a small shallow lake.

Both were just looking to get through the proverberal "hump-day" hurrdle(those that fit the MO know the feeling),and at first the only thing they had in common (or thought so) was the obsession to fish and beat the mid-week working blues.
