Mixco Viejo is an archaeological site in the north east of the Chimaltenango district of Guatemala, some 50 km to the north of Guatemala City.
Mixco was the capital of the Pocomam Maya kingdom, and was sometimes known as Pocomam and Saqik'ajol Nimakaqapek in addition to Mixco.

El autor no es historiador y quizá por eso se sale de aquel esquema tradicional e incluso hay párrafos escritos con pasión que no le resta mérito a la obra, si no le da un sello distintivo.
El libro está ilustrado con hermosas imágenes del centro ceremonial conocido como Mixco Viejo, que más bien debería llamarse Jilotepeque Viejo; porque como argumenta el autor, ese lugar no era poqomam, sino kaqchikel.
