		With a history of over ten years, the expressway is beginning to feel the crunch of massive traffic, especially the incessant onslaught of heavy lorries.
		The expressway was designed for a traffic audience of 50,000 vehicles a day -- and apparently, not a vehicle more, as the current average of 59,000 vehicles a day is stretching the expressway to its limits.
		The situation on the expressway in 2004, therefore, is different from that of 1993.

	Crosstown Expressway (I-695, unbuilt)
		The Crosstown Expressway was to be the southern part of the Center City loop that also comprised of the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76), the Delaware Expressway (I-95) and the Vine Street Expressway (I-676).
		The Crosstown Expressway would require the relocation of between 850 and 2,050 households (that is, between 2,900 and 5,300 residents), depending on the size and the location of the expressway.
		By 1977, the demise of the Crosstown Expressway ultimately led to the cancellation of the Cobbs Creek and Lansdowne expressways, the feeder roads that were to connect to the Crosstown route.

		From the Nassau Expressway eastbound, Exit 1 is for the Van Wyck Expressway (I-678) and Exit 2 is for the JFK Expressway.
		The westbound Nassu Expressway consists essentially of a connector from the JFK Expressway to the westbound Belt Parkway and NY 27, and the northbound Van Wyck Expressway.

	Vine Street Expressway (I-676 and US 30)
		While the expressway was to be open to all vehicles, the route was to receive parkway-like design features such as stone-arch overpasses and landscaping between the main roadway and service roads.
