Rather, it is the forensic psychiatrist's responsibility to communicate effectively (with a view toward the degree of proof or certainty required under applicable law) the complex interactions among mind, brain states, and behavior.
The mixed results of appellate court decisions in California(103) and elsewhere(22,27,60,76) concerning the admissibility of evidence of diminished capacity in recent years show the courts to be ambivalent in their wish to be informed by a deep human understanding.
Thus, the controversy over diminished capacity serves as a test case of the acceptance and legitimacy of psychiatry in the courtroom.

 FDA Antidepressant Suicide Warning
My main point is that the extreme reactions I had to the SSRI, (which in hindsight resembled similar actions and states-of-mind back in college and high school,) were due to the fact that I was misdiagnosed years ago, as a teenager, as having Unipolar Major Depression.
I think it needs to be explained more thoroughly that when SSRIs are given to people who have an underlying predisposition to bipolar disorder, it can actually usher in a manic, hypomanic, or mixed episode among those people who are taking them.
Larry Greenhill MD, a child and adolescent psychiatrist representing the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, testified that many child psychiatrists have found antidepressants useful for treating their patients, but did emphasize the need for kids to be “carefully diagnosed,” and “in a well-monitored treatment program.”

Vaporize Me - Is inhalable alcohol a good idea? By Amanda Schaffer
Indeed, as Robert Swift, a professor of psychiatry and human behavior at Brown Medical School, told me, when researchers want to model alcohol addiction in rats—in order to study withdrawal and other phenomena—they often expose them to air mixed with vaporized alcohol.
The legality of AWOL—at least for venues licensed to serve alcohol in New York state—seems to turn on two relatively obscure provisions of the state's Alcoholic Beverage Control law —a law enacted in 1934, shortly after the repeal of Prohibition (in 1933).
This is because vaporized alcohol, as it enters the bloodstream directly from the lungs, is not subject to the protective effects of the digestive system—notably, the impulse to vomit.

Physical Therapy: Patients in general practice in Denmark referred to physiotherapists: A description of patient characteristics based on general health status, diagnoses, and sociodemographic characteristics
Participating and nonparticipating GPs did not differ in terms of sex, type of practice (solo/group), locale (rural/ city/mixed), number of GPs in the practice, and self-reported knowledge and experience in the fields of rheumatology, physical therapy, and psychiatry.
Of the patients referred to physiotherapists by general practitioners in Denmark, the subgroup with poorly defined diagnoses had lower mental health scores than those with well-defined diagnoses, suggesting that a biopsychosocial approach to care may be appropriate for this group of patients.
An increase in referrals to physiotherapists has been observed in the last few years, and the reason for this increase is unknown.3 Forty-three percent of the patients seeing their GP about a musculoskeletal illness report subsequent referral to a physiotherapist.17
