Miyazaki Prefecture is located in the South Eastern corner of the island of Kyushu (the Southernmost of the four main islands of Japan).
The Western area of the Prefecture is mountainous, consisting of the Kyushu mountain range and the Kirishima volcanic zone, and the Eastern border is the coastline of the Pacific Ocean.
There are many places in Miyazaki that have links to these Gods and their deeds that are mentioned in the ancient myths and legends, and many reminders of this distant past, such as the Saitobaru Burial Mounds still remain today.
