Miyoshi City is a largest city in Hiroshima Prefecture which isn't on the Seto Inland Sea.
Miyoshi is built in the basin of the valleys where 3 major rivers join together and flow out together as the Egawa River towards Hiroshima City.
Miyoshi is renowned for being one of the few places that traditional cormorant fishing is still practiced in Japan.

Hiroshima Prefecture (広島県) is opposite Shikoku on the south side of Honshu between Yamaguchi Prefecture (the western most prefecture on Honshu) and Okayama Prefecture.
The prefecture's tallest mountains are on the coast and the rest of the inland portion is mountainous and slopes away to Shimane Prefecture in the north.

The Miyoshi Basin District has an ancient history and many precious relics from the past have been preserved in the 3,000 ancient burial mounds(KOFUN)in this area,one third of all in Hiroshima prefecture.Miyoshi is know as one of the most famous places in the Chugoku area of where one can see kofun.
