The best example is the 1890 Gendarmerie carbine, the 1892 Mousqueton and the 1890T.15 Cavalry carbine which, except for markings and the bayonets used (a special epee for the Gendarmerie and the 1892 sabre for the other two), are virtually the same.
Patrick, the only plausible explanation that I have for the marking is that it may have simpler (and perhaps less confusing) to use M16 instead of “1892 Modifie 1916”.
That still leaves the question of why most seem to have gone to the Balkans — maybe someone requested “alpine” carbines or maybe the carbines with the prong just happened to be what was available for issue at the time and were sent to the Balkans.

It seems that by looking at the book anything is possible, the model 1907/15 were both derived from the models 1890 and 1892 carbines.
- Mousqueton Berthier Mle 1892 M16 (8mm, 5 rounds) was used in the cavalry and several other units like artillery units I guess...

The committee which oversaw the Mle 1886 development was headed by general Tramond.
Ironically it was this design lengthened to rifle length which came in as an adjunct to the Lebel rifle in 1915 (the Mle 1907-15 Berthier rifle).
The Lebel remained the rifle of choice used by the French Foreign Legion,until the adoption of the MAS Mle 1936 rifle.

This is a very good example of an early French Model 1892 Army Revolver in 8 mm.
Made from 1892 up through and following World War One, these saw service all over the world last seeing service during the Algerian Conflict in the early 1960's.
Right side of the frame is marked Mre d'Armes St. Etienne while the top flat of the octagon barrel reads Mle 1892 (Model 1892).

Armour penetration was poor - 12 mm at 0 meters, but it showed enough to fight contemporary armoured cars in close ranges (according to other source it was 495 m/s and armour penetration: 15 mm /500 meters, but the first data seem more reliable).
Mle 1916 HE round's weight was 0.555 kg (30 g = 0.03 kg of the explosive in it); the muzzle velocity was 367 m/s.

Upon arriving at the firing trench (the first line of of trench system) the Lt. of the 8th BCP (Brett Johnson) gave me a section of the trench to defend.
As i had been getting ready for the night patrol I had my Revolver d'Ordonnance Mle.1892(Model 1892 Ordnance Revolver) in hand and started firing upon them, I was able to reload my pistol twice until myself and a fellow 2nd Squad poilu were suddenly overwhelmed by the Germans and were then captured.
We were then taken to the German section of the lines for interrogation.

Mle 1892 is stamped on top of barrel, then on the side of the barrel there is a P in a circle and an L in a circle.
On the other side of barrel is S 1893 This gun is in very good condition except it looks like someone tried to drill the barrel out to accommodate a different size bullet.
It looks like all the chambers have been drilled and it was a bad job.

The member of the Maquis in the left foreground carries a Lebel revolver, while the one on the right has a Mas 35A" I agree with the 1892 Lebel but, the semi-auto looks to me like a Ruby.
Also in Kubrik's "Paths of Glory" the French Patrol runs around in No man's Land with Mle 92's....

It designed one famous light machine gun and a tank/fortification machine gun with 150 rds drum magazine; not the rifles, but it produced rifles designed elsewhere, including a lot of Belgian and Russian Mosin - Nagant Model 1891s, until Russian firearms manufactures were tooled-up to yield them in Russia.
Modéle 1892 rifle (or a Mousqueton Artillerie, with a shortened barrel) was designed by French General A.V. It has a three rounds box magazine instead of tubular magazine of contemporary LEBEL Model 1886 rifle.

 Allied World War II revolvers - THR
The French used the Mle 1892 Lebel revolver in 8mm, and to a lesser degree (mainly with African colonial troops) the Mle 1873 Ordnance revolver in 11mm.
The Soviets of course used the Model 1895 Nagant Gas Seal revolver in 7.62mm.
The 1873 used a loading gate, but quite frankly, I just can't remember what the 1892 used.

 phorum - Blitzkrieg Playtest - AP ammo for FT17
The uncapped Mle 1892 AP round for the 37mm SA 18 on the FT17 was almost worthless against AFVs (14mm at 0 meters).
The capped Mle 1935 AP round is what I used to rate the guns on the R35 and H35.
Does anyone know or have an opinion if the FT17s would have any of the capped rounds?
