Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Directed by Mitsuo Fukuda, Gundam SEED Destiny is the sequel to Gundam SEED and the second Gundam series to be set in the Cosmic Era timeline.
While the Gundam SEED series appears to be designed to parallel its predecessor Mobile Suit Gundam, the Gundam SEED Destiny series are also designed to parallel Zeta Gundam, with the plot, character, and mobile suit designs notably mirroring it at several places.
In Gundam SEED Destiny, a common practice with ZAFT Mobile Suits is the names being acronyms: Consider ZAKU(ZAFT Armed Keeper of Unity), GOUF(Guardian of Unity Forerunner), and DOM(Dauntless Obliterator Magnificent).

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This series begins with a war between Earth and the colonies that is similar to the One Year War of the original Gundam series with certain traditional elements from New Mobile Report Gundam Wing and After War Gundam X such as the presence of 5 multicolored gundam mobile suits and the threat of an apocalypse.
The series was intended to be Universal Century updated for a new generation of fans, and the similarities between the original Mobile Suit Gundam and this series are numerous.
Other criticisms revolve around the fact that Gundam Seed focuses a lot of chara-moe, or moé of characters rather than the bigger picture of war, and that the animation style is flashy and disjointed compared to all previous Gundam stories in terms of atmosphere.

Like G Gundam and Gundam Wing, Gundam SEED creates an alternate universe with its own set of characters and situations, yet retaining the political conflicts and giant machines that identify a Gundam series.
The conflicting sides in Gundam SEED are the Earth Alliance, composed of Naturals (normal human beings), and ZAFT (Zodiac Alliance of Freedom Treaty), an orginazation that has produced Coordinators (genetically-modified humans).

 Gundam Seed
It is a part of the Gundam franchise that started in 1979.\nThe first episode of Gundam Seed aired on October 5, 2002.
The name "Gundam" is never used in the series to identify any mobile suit; it is an acronym for two of the various Mobile Operating Systems used to run mobile suits, and Kira Yamato uses it to refer to his mobile suit until he's informed otherwise.
The word "Gundam" is used in marketing copy and model kit/toy packaging to designate the "hero" mobile suits, as opposed to the normal "grunt" mobile suits.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny Review - Minitokyo   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-26)
They tried to aim for a parallel plot in the beginning of the series in which top secret mobile suits are hijacked(although by the Earth Allince this time around...^^), and Zaft's Minerva, akin to the Archangel from the previous series, is forced to play a pivotal role despite the inexperience of its crew and pilots.
In comparison to Gundam Seed, the sequel had a weaker storyline, ironically for me, due to the rerurn of the old cast rather than faults in the new protagonists.
The audio of Gundam Seed is a mix of traditional Gundam sound effects augmented by digital surround, with an added layer of subtle and ambient sounds for a more believable presentation.

 Gundam Seed Destiny
Gundam SEED Destiny is the sequel to Gundam SEED and both are set in the Cosmic Era timeline.
In terms of mecha, focus was placed on newer units such as Strike Freedom, Infinite Justice, and Legend Gundams which are often cited as being little more than upgrades of their respective counterparts in the original Gundam SEED (Freedom, Justice, Providence) used as an excuse to reuse old animations.
Impulse is almost identical to Strike in the original Gundam SEED in terms of the Striker packs vs. the Silhouette packs, combined with a core block system very similar to V Gundam from Mobile Suit Victory Gundam.

Gundam Seed Destiny DVD 1 - Review - Anime News Network
Three new rather odd-looking Gundams are stolen from a ZAFT base in explosive fashion, prompting ZAFT to give chase after the hijackers over the next three episodes with their slick new battleship, the Minerva and their slick new main hero Gundam, the Impulse.
The Gundams actually beat the odds and turn out quite nicely despite bearing such cheesy features as flying dog and submarine transformation modes, and blatantly copying gimmicks seen in the first SEED such as swappable backpacks.
Where SEED's score consisted chiefly of a generic synth music sound, Destiny kicks off right away with a big, booming, symphonic feel to it, riddled with some guitar-heavy pieces for the fight scenes.

The Gundam franchise is the only anime series that really tackles the subject of war, the perceptions of it and the numerous effects of it on people, property and relationships to any real effect anymore.
In continuing with the Seed universe with another season I was afraid of the show repeating too much of what it did before and not being able to move into new areas.
Seed Destiny hits a lot of high notes across these episodes but is overall a fair bit more balanced overall and definitely less frenetic but still quite enjoyable.

The Nihon Review » Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny
The first three minutes of Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny led me to believe that I had pure gold in my hands; this anime has one of the most gruesome introductions of any Gundam series.
If the characters had become the driving force instead of the trite plot, this anime could have created its own identity, but all hope is lost in the final quarter when the original cast from the first Gundam Seed(1,2) literally hijacks Destiny and drives the entire anime to the ground.
Chances are that diehard fans of the original Gundam Seed(1,2) will enjoy this sequel, but it is hard to recommend to anybody else.

Gundam SEED Destiny starts off in a very similar way to Gundam SEED, new gundam models are stolen from a prominent ZAFT facility of weapons research and development.

Gundam Seed Destiny takes place two years after the climatic battle of the original Gundam Seed.
The death of his family influenced Shin to become an ace Gundam pilot, yet despite of his accomplishments, he still feels anger towards the leaders of his homeland whom he feels were responsible for the demise of his family.
The greater problem is that some of the Gundams and their pilots are overly powerful, and as a result, some battles are made ludicrous and anti-climatic.
