The official line over here in the UK is that "Le Roc" is the basis of the Modern (French) Jive styles.
Without going too much into the politics of it all, the Le Roc French Jive Foundation is affiliated to the United Kingdom Association of dance teachers and, basically, anybody can run Le Roc classes - though they'd be well advised to attend a weekend workshop.
Not so CEROC or Le Jive and a few other franchised operations who all claim that they have the one true message (and certainly have copyright of their own name).

I have found that if someone dances one dance for many years and then starts to learn another, he or she often dances the new dance with a little bit of the style of the first dance.
