The most prominent modern weapons are firearms, ranging from a simple.38 revolver to a light machine gun, weapons commonly used by any number of individuals and had came a long way in their long evolution.
Other modern weapons known to us are the heavier artillery such as rocket launchers, grenade launchers, and even man-portable antitank missiles, all of which are made for greater damage to an enemy force or destruction to enemy hardware and vehicles.
Futuristic weapons are often weapons used in futuristic settings, such as in space or anywhere that is set in either the near future (usually 5 years or a few decades from now) or the far future (several decades to centuries, and even millenia from now).

 Revised Rules for Modern Weapons
Modern weapons are a key part of combat when playing any of Palladium Books RPGs aside from Palladium Fantasy, and there many important rules concerning them.
Other weapons are designed to only fire limited bursts, such as many energy weapons that are designed to fire two or three pulse blasts.
The most common type of weapons that use burst shots are contemporary modern weapons like the M-16 assault rifle and not energy weapons, which are usually designed to deliver pulse shots.

 Modern Primitive Weapons
By modern primitive weapons (in this case, a spear and bow) I mean a weapon that would have been recognizable to our Neolithic kin, but shaped with modern steel tools and, in some cases, other modern improvements that will become evident in the course of the article.
It's a logical first weapon to make if you find yourself in a survival situation, as it's easy to make, easy to use relatively well with little training, and can be used for both defense and hunting.
Obviously, having the skills to do the entire weapon, from start to finish, with only natural tools and materials is an enviable goal, but you have to remain realistic.

Favoured weapons included smaller jian swords and dao type blades, as well as weapons which could be claimed to be for another use, such as the staff used for walking or carrying loads, or a shorter-than-battlefield-length spear with the point removed that could be claimed to be a staff.
Use of weapons that could only be associated with the battlefield, such as various types of specialised lances, halberds, war-hammers and war-axes, began to disappear among the general population, if not among the Manchu military and associated units.
Modern practitioners claim a tenuous link to the National Wushu Institute established in Nanjing in 1928, although it is almost certain that what passes for Wushu today bears little resemblance to what was taught in that institute.

Yet the more I looked into weapons in general, the less clear that distinction became: In many ways, modern weapons are also governed by cultural behaviors that could be called "ritual," and the differences are more of degree than kind.
Though rituals may dictate behaviors involving modern weapons and their uses, the fact that the weapons themselves do not form an overt part of cultural activity means that weapon "rituals" play little to no part in larger structures of belief in those societies (public religious and cultural values, for example).
Because weapons represent the potential for violence, and the management of violence is a requirement of any organized society, ritual significance was imparted to weapons to delimit the contexts of their uses.

Modern weapons are important to understand, but the answers for dealing with them, are found in the techniques of the past.
Again, modern weapons should be studied, but remember, firearms have been around for centuries and as far as modernism goes, when people tend to exclude the past they leave things out.

Modern weapons and the contemporary doctrine of technologically advanced military forces have created a new environment of war at both the tactical and operational levels.

Most modern nuclear weapons depend on a plutonium pit as the "primary" that begins the chain reaction resulting in a thermonuclear explosion.
• The Modern Pit Facility is being designed with the flexability to produce new-design pits in spite of the stated intent of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (observed, but not ratified by the U.S.) to cut off the further advancement of nuclear weapons.
Conversely, if new U.S. nuclear weapons with new-design pits are produced the Pentagon may not be willing to deploy them without testing, thus possibly prompting the U.S. to terminate observance of the CTBT and resume full-scale testing.
