		Unfortunately, I have no experience with modicons older than the 984 series so I can't help with specifics--though yours MAY be the same as 984s and later.
		As one of the previous posters noted, one of the big differences between AB and Modicon is scanning top to bottom vs left to right.
		In Modicon the (L) coil tells the processor to save the state of the bit on power down and turn it back on at power up.

		If my memory is not mistaken, the CPU that you are talking about belongs to line "Compact", but in that line of PLC an ethernet module doesn't exist.
		Or a good option is uses a rs-232 modbus/ethernet media converter (try www.lantronix.com), but using this way you lose the rs-232 programming port.
		I had some 'educational' experinces with the "Modicon A350 PLC" in Thailand where the main SCADA company of a pipeline wanted us$40,000 from a customer of mine for a "Modicon A350" PLC for 5 DI, 5DO, and 4AI (total bill would have been us$100K to cover the design, installation, integration, etc).
