  Features | Category Module
Categories are generally assigned to dynamic content, although they can be assigned to any node, including other categories or containers.
This is why the category module comes bundled with wrapperi modules for both book and taxonomy; the wrappers provide a compatibility layer, and thus bridge the gap between old and new.
Category allows you to structure all of your site as a hierarchical tree, in the same way that the Book module does but it allows the same page to appear in more than one branch of the tree.

Category Module + Category Menu Module - How Disable Category Page Child Nodes | drupal.org
Since the cat_menu module automatically creates a menu item for every assigned node in the "right" place when i assign it to a category, it already knows teh relationship to the parent 'about'.
I think the thing is most people use the category and cat-menu module primarily to create one nav menu that is visibile all the time.
However, this is not specific to the category module- blocks in drupal work based on paths, not node ids, as far as I understand.

Module (mathematics) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In abstract algebra, the concept of a module over a ring is a generalization of the notion of vector space, where instead of requiring the scalars to lie in a field, the "scalars" may lie in an arbitrary ring.
The kernel of a module homomorphism f : M → N is the submodule of M consisting of all elements that are sent to zero by f.
A free module is a module that has a basis, or equivalently, one that is isomorphic to a direct sum of copies of the scalar ring R.

pMachine Community Forums | Wiki module: Category like "Müll" results in "Mll"
It must be said that generally localisation/internationalisation is somewhat hard with the Wiki module, lots of things are hardcoded and sometimes can’t even be changed from the default English.
Also, the URL itself is not that important, but not being able to have a category with an umlaut in its name is a serious flaw.
The language file for the wiki module is translate of course and it has some namespace (like Category which became Kategorie) you can translate.

The idea was controversial when I first proposed it over a year ago, and to be honest, the development and the release of the category module has been met largely with scepticism and criticism.
The category module issue queue is currently overflowing with bug reports, the majority of them related to category_menu.
One problem that I've found, in explaining the category module to newcomers, is that it seems to have a large amount of pre-requisite knowledge.
