Unswerving commitment to rock's righteous cause is rare; it demands a troop of seriously single-minded dudes with their collective heart and soul fixed on one goal - to bring the noise.
They've since gone on to develop their distinctive style of apocalyptic, yet deeply humanised noise across four albums, establishing the transcendentally effective quiet-loud/quiet-loud dynamic as their very own and spawning a generation of imitators.
Usually tagged a post-rock band because of their slow-build, instrumental workouts and the neo-classical majesty of their more ambitious songs, Mogwai are rather a bunch of a-rockers, drawn to whatever serves their cause - be it the stripped-down delicacy of Erik Satie or the boiling rage of Big Black.

EvilSponge: Album: Rock Action by Mogwai
Mogwai started off as a bunch of lads from Glasgow intent on making some serious noise with their guitars.
I think that part of the difference between early Mogwai and this album is that they now have the money and luxury to fully explore the fine art of recording, whereas on their earlier work they had to make their point known on a tight budget.
I think this song is noteworthy, because of all of Mogwai's work to date it most resembles a normal pop song in that a vocal melody is ever-present.

 Mogwai
Mogwai is Chinese for "monster," a term that has frequently been used to describe many of the band’s multi-guitar exploits as well as their blistering live shows.
As apt of a description as that adjective was to describe a certain portion of their output, the quintet’s past two albums have demonstrated a new found prolonged sense of delicate songwriting.
Mogwai albums that once used to house numerous lengthy songs that freely explored the old loud/soft Slint dynamic now are filled with songs that are more, gasp!, melodious.

Mogwai - Uncyclopedia, the content-free encyclopedia   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-29)
Mogwai is a band of small furby-like creatures from Scotland and the Asiatic nations, variably.
Known for their lengthy instumental guitar-based pieces of post-rock, melodic bass rifts, overlayered distortion and a tendency to reproduce when they get wet, wet and wet, they are very popular in both the UK and US.
They were not fully appraised of the rules of owning or listening to the music of Mogwai, and Braithwaite was inadvertantly exposed to water, spawning larger, more aggressive versions of himself.

Mogwai are back on the road April 30, starting at the Coachella Festival, and then through North America all of May. This Monday, the 'Follow The Beast' mash-up will re-launch with new features (including ticket purchases and more) to track tour #2.
Mogwai are putting the wraps (as we like to say in the music business) on their latest opus with longtime associate Tony Doogan.
Mogwai are in and out of town, toiling furiously over the long-awaited follow-up to 1999’s ‘Come On Die Young.’ Recorded once again with the assistance of good friend Dave Friddman, we are expecting something substantially different from the last Mogwai album.
