The Mohegan Tribe and the Sturges family are saddened to announce that Chief Ralph W. Sturges passed away on October 1, 2007 at the age of 88.
On Thursday, May 17, 2007, Mohegan Tribal Chairman Bruce “Two Dogs” Bozsum and members of the Mohegan Tribal Council presented Mayor Joseph Jaskiewicz and members of the Montville Town Council with a check for $250,000 in recognition of the shared history and close relationship between the Tribe and the Town.

To insure the Mohegan were trustworthy, two of the sons were kept as hostages for the remainder of the war, while one of them, Oneko (Oweneco), was released to lead the warriors.
