While the Bharathanatyam dancer has to "subjugate her personality into the mainstream of Bhakthi, the Mohiniyaattam dancer strives to project her vivacious personality" and to reflect the Maya (illusory) or Mohini-roopam of Lord Vishnu which charms everyone.

Dubai: A four-day festival of Kerala art forms, Utsavam 2007, is being inaugurated today at the Indian consulate here as part of the celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of India's independence.
The festival will showcase traditional art forms of Kerala such as Kathakali, Thayambaka, Keli and Mohiniyaattam, according to a consulate press release issued here.
Organised by Thiranottam, a Dubai-based group promoting Kerala's art forms, with support from the Indian mission, the festival will be held in the emirates of Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah and Abu Dhabi over a period of four days.

"'Utsavam 2007' will showcase traditional art forms of Kerala such as Kathakali, Thayambaka, Keli and Mohiniyaattam," Venu Rajamony, India's Consul-General in Dubai told reporters on Wednesday.
This festival organised by Thiranottam, a Dubai-based group promoting Kerala's art forms, with the consulate's support, will be held in Dubai, Ra Al Khaimah and Abu Dhabi, he said.
