Armin, whose resignation was accepted yesterday, is one of three MPS who tendered resigntions which have been accepted by the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Majlis).
Armin's resignation was accepted by a vote of 103 in favor and 49 against with 7 abstentions from a total of 194 votes cast.
Armin was among the over 2,000 nominees whose qualifications were screened and were barred from taking part in the February parliamentary election.

The prosecutor, who prior to May served as a judge in charge of the hard-line judiciary's press court, is known in Iran as the "butcher of the press" for his role in the closure of some ninety liberal publications and the imprisonment of dozens of writers and activists in the past three years.
Mohsen Armin, a member of the Iranian Parliament from Tehran, vehemently attacked Mortazavi in an open session of Parliament, blaming him for the unnecessary and prolonged detention of Kazemi.
Armin's strong public stand against a conservative official was extremely uncommon but, to date, Armin has been able to avoid the reprisals that would have been expected even a few years ago.

Esfahan's deputy Mohsen Armin warned Sunday that if efforts by the parliament to clarify the qualification of the candidates for the Goletan by-election yield no result, Maajles will have no other alternative than to look at the feasibility of holding a referendum.
