Shahir Rizk - Nucleoside Moiety of the Molybdopterin Cofactor of Arsenite Oxidase
Identification of Guanosine as the Nucleoside Moiety of the Molybdopterin Cofactor of Arsenite Oxidase
After the pH was adjusted with sodium hydroxide to 8.5, the nucleoside moiety was separated from the cofactor using pyrophosphatase (0.5 U/mL), which breaks the phosphodieseter bond between the two phosphates that connect the nucleoside to the cofactor, and alkaline phosphatase (200 U/mL), which cleaves the terminal phosphate group.
To separate the nucleotide moiety from the cofactor of arsenite oxidase, the enzyme pyrophosphatase was used to break the phosphodiester bond of the two phosphate groups which link the nucleoside to the cofactor (Fig 4).

The foreign moiety is suitably attached to a portion of the RNA genome sequence of MS-2 or related phage capable of functioning as a translational operator for capsid formation, or a variant thereof retaining the translational operator function.
The foreign moiety may be attached directly to the operator sequence or via a spacer moiety, for example a series of uridine residues (suitably 6) to ensure that the foreign moiety does not interfere with the operator function.
An example of such a targeting moiety is a galactose residue which can be used to direct the capsids to interact with specific cell surface receptors and thus carry the foreign moiety within the capsids to and/or into specific cells.

Class Definition for Class 560 - ORGANIC COMPOUNDS -- PART OF THE CLASS 532-570 SERIES
This factor, combined with the complexity of the compounds which involve pluralities of acid and alcohol moieties, has made it essential to establish a set of rules to determine which acid moiety and which alcohol moiety is to control the classification.
However, when the acid halide group is on an acid moiety which serves as the alcohol portion of an ester of an acid with higher priority, this restriction no longer applies and it may be considered as a halogenated alcohol.
As a general rule, a salt forming moiety will not be considered as significant for classifying a carboxylic acid ester, unless it is, per se, an ester classifiable in this area, in which case its acid group will compete for priority with the acid group of the ester to which it is ionically bound.

The moiety system is a more unusual form of unilineal descent and involves the occurrence of descent groups in linked pairs which assume complementary positions and functions.
Each moiety (or half) of a pair will almost always be exogamous and take its husbands and wives exclusively from the matched group.
Wida men are forbidden to marry women from their moiety and must take wives from Waija and visa versa.

Attenuation of benzodiazepine dependence in mice by a tri-substituted benzoflavone moiety of Passiflora incarnata ...
In recent studies by the authors, a methanol extract of the leaves of P. incarnata was confirmed to possess anxiolytic (18, 19), anti-tussive (20), anti-asthmatic (21) and aphrodisiac properties (22) in experimental animals at a dose of 100 mg/kg per oral.
Our subsequent pharmacological studies on the BZF moiety confirmed the significant usefulness of P. incarnata in countering the dependence and development of tolerance upon administration with substances like morphine (26), cannabinoids (27), nicotine (28) and ethanol (29) in mice at a dose-range of 10-50 mg/kg.
The BZF moiety isolated from aerial parts of P. incarnata is hypothesized to prevent the decline in androgens (a) through its anti-aromatase function, and (b) by eliminating estrogen's negative feedback loop, in light of the various reports (72-74).

Small-Molecule Agonists and Antagonists of the Opioid Receptor-Like Receptor (ORL1, NOP): Ligand-Based Analysis of ...
Analysis of the C moieties of all the agonists from different classes of NOP ligands indicates that the C portion (Figure 1) of piperidine-based agonists can either contain significant aromatic character, as in Ro 65–6570, Ro 64–6198, and phenylpiperidines 9/10, or contain lipophilic alicyclic rings like the cyclononyl and isopropylcyclohexyl.
This indicates that with the same heterocyclic A moiety, the triazaspirodecanone, it was possible to obtain antagonists by a subtle 1-carbon homologation of the lipophilic C moiety on the piperidine nitrogen.
Replacement of the C moiety with a cyclooctylmethyl group, as in 19 (Table 2), provided a significant increase in binding affinity at NOP and reduced affinity at the opioid receptors, resulting in a ligand that was 38-fold more selective than κ receptors.

 Electronic Code of Federal Regulations:
This applies only if the difference in the rate at which the active ingredient or moiety becomes available at the site of drug action is intentional and is reflected in the proposed labeling, is not essential to the attainment of effective body drug concentrations on chronic use, and is considered medically insignificant for the drug.
Dose proportionality of the active drug ingredient or the therapeutic moiety needs to be established after single-dose administration and in certain instances after multiple-dose administration.
For example, in the case of an active drug ingredient or therapeutic moiety that is poorly absorbed after oral administration, it may be necessary to compare the oral dosage form proposed for marketing with the active drug ingredient or therapeutic moiety administered in solution both orally and intravenously.

MCA 99 Comments on Kell and Mendes
Whilst we certainly agree with the statement that the total amount of moiety can control the flux through a pathway, we show here that the observed bell-shaped curve is in fact the result of unrealistic model definition and the existence of a second moiety-conserved cycle in the system they simulated.
We disagree strongly with the statement that there is an "optimal amount of cofactor for a given pathway flux" in the sense of a maximum of a bell-shaped response; in fact, experimental evidence shows that enzymes are usually almost saturated with cofactor.
Should the total amount of free moiety become limiting (because most of it is bound to other enzymes), this could in principle have an inhibitory effect on the flux.

 About chemical formulae
· Moiety formula: a chemical formula that describes the way the empirical formula is divided among discrete, bonded chemical moieties but without specific structural detail.
· For those formulae that allow grouping (currently moiety formulae and structural formulae), the only characters that may be used for grouping purposes are parentheses.
o Applicable non-zero charges should be specified at the end of each moiety in the form of a + or — separated from the preceding element symbol and count by a space, and immediately preceded by the appropriate count if that is greater than 1.

Purification of chimeric proteins containing an IL-2 moiety by receptor-affinity chromatography - Patent 5149788
Such cultured cells are generally stimulated to produce IL-2 by agents such as phytohemagglutinin or concanavalin A. The receptor-affinity adsorbents of this invention are especially useful for such conditioned media because of their ability to selectively remove IL-2 from large volumes of medium.
Although the IL-2 moiety may contain a complete IL-2 sequence, it could contain a subsequence instead, as long as a sufficient portion of the IL-2 molecule were present to permit substantial, specific binding to an IL-2 receptor.
The IL-2 moiety can be joined to the other part(s) of the chimeric protein by constructing and expressing a chimeric gene coding for both the IL-2 moiety and the other part(s), with or without a linker between them.
