 The Environmental Bureau of Investigation (EBI)
Wayne Herrick, the Ontario Ministry of Environment (MoE) project officer for the Moira River Impact Study, spoke to a meeting at Ivanhoe on Thursday, August 10.
Various members of the Moira River team including MoE Eastern Region director Brian Ward, Wayne Herrick, Bryon Keene, Quinte Conservation, and representatives from the consultants Golders and Global TOX will be at the meeting in Madoc on August 26.
Herrick said, some of the recommendations (of the Moira River Study) were to do with the Deloro site and some with the river system, and some could be done right away.

Flood warnings for three major rivers in the Quinte area jammed with ice were cancelled Monday after frigid temperatures subsided.
Quinte Conservation Authority warnings were broadcast last Wednesday after the Moira River and two other rivers reached dangerous levels because of ice jams, an obstruction in a river caused by broken ice.
Ice covers the walkway along the Moira river after rising water levels and colder tempatures hit Belleville.

The sand, gravel, clay and till overburden that currently covers the limestone from Moira Lake south to Lake Ontario was deposited by the Wisconsin Glacier which was the last of four glaciers during the Pleistocene Epoch.
Lakes and rivers south of this line drain south into the Moira River, Black River and Skootamata River which merge into the Moira River at Tweed (east of Madoc) and then runs south and empties into Lake Ontario at Belleville.

BELLEVILLE - The award of a $7.3-million contract to complete advance work for a three-year project to repair the Moira River Bridge on Highway 401 was announced today by Transportation Minister David Turnbull.

The parking area is just a few tens of meters from the river, surrounded by a wild, grassy natural area.
