I usually shake rather than stir a mojito, but the stylish spoon trick sounds worth a try.
More than a splash of the syrup would be good, though it depends on the strength of the syrup, and what you mean by "wedge" of lime - I usually cut a lime into quarters and squeeze all 4 into the glass, but drop just 2 in.
