Monaghan Pipe Band is pleased to announce that its former Pipe Sergeant – Peter Skae - recently competed at the London Highland Club Challenge Cup at the Scottish Society of London’s 64th Annual Competition held at Hampton Court London.
Monaghan traveled to the Colonial Highland Gathering in Fair Hill, MD this past Saturday to play in an unsanctioned medley contest against the grade 1 City of Washington Pipe Band.
Along with thousands of pipers and drummers from around the country and the globe, the Monaghan Pipe Band was happy to march up New York's 6th Avenue and into Central Park to raise funds for cancer research in the US and UK.

Monaghan United played their first League of Ireland game in 1985 against Derry City F.C. at Belgium Park before moving to move to their current home at Gortakeegan in 1987.
He joined Blackburn Rovers as a trainee in 2000 from Monaghan United and had loan spells with Chesterfield F.C. Blackpool F.C. and Gillingham F.C. before moving to Leeds United on loan at the start of the 2005/’06 season and returning to Blackburn Rovers for the 2006-2007 season.
Stephen Finnegan is a current member of the Monaghan United squad and has represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-19 level and also received a call up to the Northern Ireland Schools squad in 2006.

Monaghan only have a few days to recover from Cobh when they take on Finn Harps on the Tuesday night at home with an 8pm kick off on the 27th of June.  Monaghan will be looking to extract revenge for the 4-1 defeat they suffered at the hands of Harps last month. 
Monaghan United were worried moments later when Aisling Smyth and Michelle Gillanders clashed heads.  Smythy came out the worse of the clash and was sidelined for a few minutes as she tried to recover.  Jacinta put the smiles back on United's faces when she lobbed the keeper to get her hattrick. 
Monaghan United FC will be running their annual Summer Fun Soccer Camp starting on 3rd July to the 7th July at Century Homes Park and Astro Park.

Robbie Smith was sure he had snatched a lead goal for United after 63 minutes but he was thwarted as Dublin City full-back Robbie Hedderman cleared the ball off the goal-line.
Monaghan had the first after 38 minutes when Smith sent Stephen Finnegan racing into the penalty area but he failed to hit the target.
