	Monchichis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Monchichis was an American animated series produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions.
		The Monchichis were monkey-like creatures who lived in the forest land of Monchia at the very top of tall trees well above the clouds.
		Thanks to a catchy jingle and their undeniable cuteness, the Monchichi dolls lived on.

	Monchichi : Retro
		Monchichis have been around since the mid-1970’s in their native Japan (where an extra ‘h’ made them Monchhichis), but the furry little critters didn’t arrive en masse in the U.S. until the early 80’s.
		As the cartoon’s story went, the Monchichis lived “way up in the trees” of Monchia, where they were constantly harassed by the slimy Grumplins.
		Among the heroic (adorably heroic) Monchichis were Moncho, Kyla, Tootoo, Patchitt, the aged wizard Wizzar and the tiny, super-excitable Thumkii.

		G.I. Joe, the Transformers, the Thundercats, the Smurfs, all the way down the line to the Monchichis, every corporate merchandiser got their shot at hucking toys, costumes, board games, video games, comics, etc. etc.
		One of the biggest phenomena of the 80s, at least after the execrable Cabbage Patch Kids, was an obscure fl and white comic book parody of the then-unprecedented levels of popularity of the Xmen, Teen Titans, and Frank Miller’s Daredevil called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

		I remember waking up every Saturday morning overcome with dread, wondering if my dad had a hangover, yet joyous nonetheless knowing that all day I would be watching my favorite television programs.
