The WWP likes to describe their national ticket -- Moorehead is African-American and LaRiva is Hispanic -- as "two workers, two women of color." The Moorehead-LaRiva ticket is a replay of the WWP's 1996 ticket.
According to her official biography, Moorehead first became active in radical left politics while attending high school in Virginia.
In recent years, Moorehead has been the national leader of the WWP and also serves as the contributing editor for the WWP's official newspaper.

In 13 of 15 Florida counties examined by the Orlando Sentinel, Moorehead was listed in the second column of the ballot along with Constitutional Party candidate Howard Phillips.
The various combinations of double-votes in which Bush or Gore was coupled with Phillips or Moorehead caused 3,567 ballots to be rejected in the 14 counties with the split ballot.

Throughout the day, delegations of Abu-Jamal supporters visited the office of Mayor John Street to demand that he come out publicly in support of Abu-Jamal's right to a new trial.
