Monroe County is a county located in the state of Ohio.
In the county, the population is spread out with 23.60% under the age of 18, 7.10% from 18 to 24, 25.90% from 25 to 44, 27.20% from 45 to 64, and 16.30% who are 65 years of age or older.
Elections are administered in each county by a four-member board of elections which consists of two Republicans and two Democrats appointed by the Ohio Secretary of State at the recommendation of each county party.

The descendants of Levin Okey held a prominent place in the political and social histories of Monroe County since Levin Okey was, for many years, a Justice of the Peace of Belmont County and a member of the first Board of Commissioners of Belmont County under the Constitution of 1802.
The Sabbath schools in the County in 1880 were as follows: Low Gap, Isaac Cline being the Superintendent; the Methodist Protestant, Ezra Massie being the Superintendent; the Graysville Christian Sabbath school, John McCarty being the superintendent; and the Graysville Baptist Sabbath, Thomas Hickenbottom being the Superintendent.
It is the Northeastern Township of Monroe County.

According to "Monroe County Ohio Families" published by the Monroe County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society, the plot of land the the church and cemetery rest on was donated by William R. Draper in 1876, along with the lumber to build the church.
The first funeral at the church and burial in the cemetery was Peter Smith, who died while working on the church building in the fall of 1876.

A citizen of Marion County estimates that there were about as many human skeletons in the knolls of Marion County as there are white inhabitants at present.
Samuel Miller, who has resided in the county 1835, is authority for the statement that one skeleton which he assisted in unearthing was a trifle more than eight feet in length, the skull being correspondingly large, while many other skeletons measured at least seven feet.
In Muskingum County's Brush Creek Township, in a document dated March 3, 1880, a mound located on the farm of J.M. Baughman was measured 64 feet in width, 90 feet in length, and 11 feet, 3 inches in height.
