In the county, the population is spread out with 26.80% under the age of 18, 8.60% from 18 to 24, 28.80% from 25 to 44, 23.50% from 45 to 64, and 12.30% who are 65 years of age or older.

The north-western third of this county is a wilderness of Catskill upper rocks (IX) with low knobs and ridges of Pocono sandstone (X) everywhere 2,000` to 2,200 A.T. drained westward by the Tobyhanna waters into the Lehigh river.
Under it the Delaware flagstone quarry-beds, 1430` thick in eastern Pike, are 1200` in Monroe on Brodhead’s creek between Henryville and the first bridge; they range east and west across the county, affording unlimited scope for this special industry; near the top of the group comes the Lackawaxen conglomerate.

The population of Monroe County is approximately 79,317 (ESE, 1990, p.2-1).
In accordance with Pennsylvania closure procedures, the following activities were performed: (1) removing hazardous wastes from buildings; (2) inspecting building interiors; (3) vacuuming walls and floors; (4) decontaminating buildings; (5) sampling building interiors and exteriors; (6) performing a risk assessment; and (7) certifying closure in accordance with the RCRA Part B Permit (PRAP, 1995).
In January 1996, the contaminated soil was transported and disposed of in the Empire Landfill, Taylor, Pennsylvania (OHM, 1996).

Time: Between 12:30 and 1 A.M. Location: Monroe County, PA I received a report on my UFO Hotline from a woman who sounded shaken after observing a strange aerial device a short time before.
The woman was inside her home when she saw red and green lights reflecting off the surface of a lake about 50 feet away.
I have also received information on a sighting which occurred July 14, 1998 near Hollidaysburg in Blair County, PA. A man driving on Route 22 around 10 P.M., observed three blue-white triangular lights that formed an inverted V position, and which appeared motionless for about 45 seconds.
