Monster Manual Third Edition -- Dungeons & Dragons
This information allows the DM to choose monsters suited to whatever environment the DM is running the players through, and also gives a detailed description of how the monsters act in combat.
Among these is a detailed description of each of the powers that these monsters possess, including the saves, modifiers, and the statistics that govern the use of these powers.
This may not seem very important to some, but in any role-playing game it is necessary to develop a suspension of disbelief; in order to fully interact in the fantasy world a player has to be able to see it in their imagination.

The original Monster Manual was written by Gary Gygax and published for Advanced Dungeons and Dragons in 1979; two successors, the Monster Manual II and the Fiend Folio, followed thereafter.
First edition Monster Manual II In 1989, Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Second Edition was released, and the Monster Manual was replaced with the Monstrous Compendium.
The format was intended to help Dungeon Masters keep all of their monster statistics in one place and in alphabetical order, which was undermined by the fact that almost every looseleaf page in the series featured a different monster on each side, making it impossible for DMs to keep monsters in strict alphabetical order.

Monster Manual - The Role Playing Guide - The Dark Spiral
The original Monster Manual was written by Gary Gygax and published for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons in 1979; two successors, the Monster Manual II and the Fiend Folio, followed thereafter.
While the Monster Manual II added many popular monsters to the D&D mythos (including the ubiquitous drow), the Fiend Folio is largely remembered for less-than-spectacular monsters such as the modron, the "sheet phantom" and the infamous flumph.
New books bearing the names of the Monster Manual II and the Fiend Folio were released, though the specific monsters featured therein have almost no overlap with those of their First Edition namesakes.

 Monster Manual
Monster Manual II (2002) and Fiend Folio (2003) are new monster-specific rulebooks, though some of the specific monsters featured therein have almost no overlap with those of their first edition namesakes.
It also featured monsters that were infamously ridiculous such as the sheet phantom (a bad caricature of a ghost) and the flumph (one of the only non-evil creatures presented).
Monster Manual II (1983) was also credited to Gygax, though some of its contents was taken from modules.

 Ducati Monster List FAQ
After the first oil change at ~600 miles (which your manual says that you need to go to the dealership for anyway) the Monster Owners Manual states that you are only required to change the oil at the same interval as the required valve service.
The 2v Monster models range from 3.1l (3.3 qt) to 3.5l (3.7 qt), but I've never seemed to use quite as much as the bike "should" take (probably residual oil in the cooler, etc).
The Owners Manual says to use SHELL Advance Ultra 4, SAE 20w-50, but it also says "Engine oil and oil filters must be changed by a Ducati dealer or authorized workshop at regular intervals,as specified in the routine maintenance schedule" so take that for what you will.

Templates are to monsters what prestige classes are to characters, additional abilities and powers that can be grafted onto any existing monster, allowing the DM to multiply their options in monster selection.

 AD&D Review
Mike Carr's forward to the Monster Manual warned that many competitors' products were shoddy, and Gygax's preface to the Players Handbook made ugly attacks on spell point systems, “arbitrary restrictions on female characters,” and “ponderous combat systems,” a sad joke that couldn't be fully appreciated until the Dungeon Masters Guide came out.
There were many new monsters included, and there was also a much expanded treasure table, including treasure lists for loose coins the monsters were carrying on their persons.

Monster's Correct Hit Dice by Daniel R. Collins   (Site not responding. Last check: )
For each monster type, a table was given showing normal ranges of abilities, hit dice, and damage, for each possible size category, which many gamers have found to be of great use in designing and converting their own monsters.
I would strongly recommend that anyone creating their own monsters keep an eye to the actual averages from the Monster Manual -- if you faithfully follow the ranges specified in "How to Create a Monster", you will be generating monsters significantly under-powered compared to those in the core rules.
However, it is certainly impossible to think that the skills and feats for all the published monsters in these size categories could be revised or errata'd at this time; just make sure that as DM, you don't mistake the EHD numbers as representing "average" D&D monsters.

Monster Class Tables for _Monster Manual_ (2000 version) Monsters
Monsters taking these classes gain skill points and feats only when these tables say so; they do not gain skill points every level or feats every 3 levels like normal characters do (or like how Savage Species says they will in the "DandD 3.5" Monster Manual).
That's because some kinds of creatures (particularly fey, shapechangers, undead) have skills and feats at their 1st hit die based on Int, and I didn't want to shortchange the PC built with a monster class; the monster classes were built keeping in mind a typical low-hit dice creature of that type in mind.
Yeah, something needs to be done about that, since a monster with 20 skill points at 1st level and only 3 class skills is going to be forced to spend skill points on non-class skills, which is not good.
