Monsters, Inc. : (Randy Newman) After a number of years in the late 1980's and early 1990's when the international franchise of animation films and scores were defined by the pairing of Walt Disney and composer Alan Menken, the late 1990's and early 2000's have seen a splintering of the animation world.

The first, and the more familiar one, Pokémon or Pocket Monsters (often referred to as Pokémon: Gotta Catch Em All to distinguish it from the later series) tells the adventures of Ash Ketchum (Satoshi in the original Japanese version) as he travels through Kanto, the Orange Islands, and Johto to become the greatest Pokémon Master.
The ultimate goal of these games was to catch at least one member of all the different species of Pokémon (150 at the time, 151 including one that could not be obtained during regular gameplay), and to do so, players had to trade for Pokémon not available in the version they had.
The name Pokémon is a portmanteau of the words Pocket Monsters (ポケットモンスター Poketto Monsutā), which is its Japanese name.

 Monsters, Inc. (2001) : News
The plot line of ``Monsters, Inc.'' is simple and plays well at both levels: the all-too-real fear of the dark that small children have and the sensibilities of busy parents who struggle to get their kids in bed each night.
Once parents have tucked a child safely into bed at night, the monsters come into the child's room through the closet door, scare the child, and collect the kid's screams for Monsters, Inc., the biggest scream-processing factory in the monster world.
Competition to get a ``Monsters, Inc.'' toy license was so keen last September that two members of the Spin Master Toys presentation team wore fur coats when they called on Disney and Pixar, said Chris Beardall, vice president of marketing.

 Monsters, Inc.
Monsters, Inc. is in many ways a fairytale for adults in that it has, unintentionally, tapped into a collective fear inspired by our ever-escalating biological war, painted a succinct portrait of our uneasy symbiotic/parasitic relationship with the oil-providing Middle East, and even bridged the night frights of our childhood to the worries of our day-to-day.
Monsters, Inc. is the perfect balm for our fractured time: it will help children to defang the monsters they fear might exist and parents to confront the monsters they know exist.
Though the creators of the several years in the making Monsters, Inc. did not have foreknowledge of what was to transpire prior to the film's release, it speaks to the archetypal eloquence of the story that we can see ourselves reflected in the travails of animated monsters.
