		Monte Isola è l’isola più grande dei laghi europei, una montagna particolarissima che costituisce un ambiente naturale di notevole pregio, sia dal punto di vista naturalistico che paesaggistico, poiché racchiude le caratteristiche tipiche della montagna, del lago, delle isole.
		I retifici di Monte Isola, già conosciuti nel Settecento oltre i confini provinciali, rifornivano le case regnanti in tutta Italia ed in Europa, sia per le reti da pesca che per quelle della caccia.
		Nei primi anni dell’Ottocento a Brescia ci sono già cinque negozi di reti: i propietari sono tutti artigiani di Monte Isola, da cui provengono i prodotti in vendita.

		Un altro dubbio legittimo riguarda il nome: alcuni scrivono MONTE ISOLA, altri MONTISOLA, ma in questo caso la soluzione del quesito potrebbe essere più agevole: il comune si chiama indiscutibilmente Monte Isola, mentre per quanto riguarda l'area geografica, possono ritenersi valide entrambe le denominazioni.
		Amministrativamente suddivisa in diverse frazioni (Carzano, Menzino, Peschiera Maraglio, Sensole, Siviano), che compongono il comune omonimo, Monte Isola è costituita da una montagna di 600 mt. circa (400 circa sul livello del lago).
		Io ci sono stato e vi posso assicurare che vale la pena di visitarla, sebbene Monte Isola non sia fra le mete turistiche più note dei laghi lombardi.
