	The Discovery of Brazil and the Monte Pascoal
		The Monte Pascoal National Park is an Integral Protection Conservation Unit of the Atlantic Rainforest Discovery Coast World Heritage Site and the Mata Atlântica Biosphere Reserve in the state of Bahia.

Manuel I, the Monte Pascoal was the first sign of land that the Portuguese discoverer sighted on April 22nd 1500, before making their first landfall probably close to the mouth of the Caí River.
		Today, Monte Pascoal Mountain (549 m) is part of the Monte Pascoal National Park that preserves on an area of 23.000 ha one of the last reserves of Atlantic Rainforest in the south of Bahia.
