Monte Solberg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Monte Solberg (born September 17, 1958 in Calgary, Alberta) is a Canadian politician, representing the riding of Medicine Hat in the Canadian House of Commons as a member of the Conservative Party of Canada.
A former broadcaster and businessman, Solberg was elected as a Reform Party Member of Parliament (MP) in 1993 and 1997, and as a Canadian Alliance MP in 2000.
Solberg keeps a high-profile blog, and in 2005, is thought to have made history when he blogged from the floor of the House of Commons immediately upon the passage of Bill C-38, which provided legal recognition of same-sex marriage.

 Encyclopedia: Monte Solberg
Solberg used to be a member of Canada's Alliance Party, a socially conservative collection of chronically dyspeptic people bearing grievances against those who enjoy few privileges, have a different cultural heritage, and haven't done as well by the good old traditional values as they have.
Today Monte sits as an MP in a new party - the Democratic Representative Caucus, former Alliance MPs who didn't poke Stockwell Day quite hard enough while he was on the plank, and, for their botched attempts at mutiny, were purged from the party.
For Solberg principles are for saps, the doughy-headed people who live in an airy-fairy world of justice and morality, not the hard, unforgiving world of reality, where might makes right, and those who stand in the way of the powerful get crushed, while those who are "helpful" are rewarded.

First Nations and Métis groups are upset with Monte Solberg over comments the prominent Alberta Conservative candidate made to a Saskatoon radio station earlier this week.
In the radio interview, Solberg said the Kelowna agreement was something the Liberals "crafted at the last moment on the back of a napkin on the eve of an election" and the Conservatives would not honour it if they formed government.
Also expressing alarm about Solberg's comments was Chief Stewart Phillip of the Penticton Indian Band in B.C. "I am completely shocked and deeply angered to learn that a Stephen Harper government would simply rip up the hard-fought historic agreement," Phillip said in a news release.

Solberg has come to respect Joe Clark, but he would need to make a call for his head on a platter a central part of his campaign.
If Solberg is one of the "better MPs" of the Alliance then maybe Jack Layton actually has potential to become the leader of the official opposition.
Actually, Solberg was one of the scumbag traitors who damaged the credibility of a party that was on the rise and was heading in the direction of potentially being a credible alternative to the Liberals until the DoRC scumbags carried out their pre-meditated attack on the party and it's democratically elected leader.

Monte Solberg writes an extraordinary piece today, addressing the three words which have always justified every single terrible thing done by any government, anywhere:
Monte writes humourously about Ken Dryden's hockey career, and Stephan Dion's tilting at environmental windmills, but his message is deeply serious.
Harper captured much the same libertarian-ness a while ago, in a discussion about smoking and alcohol use: "People are going to have a drink and have a smoke and that's kind of the way life is going to be." This kind of approach seems all-too-rare in Nanny State Canada, and it deserves to be rewarded.

And all of Monte's machinations to oust the ruling liberals will go for naught unless his party realizes that simply being the anti-liberal party or claiming to be the world's first honest polietician is not enough reason for most of Canada's voters to give them the opportunity.

Solberg beat Citroen's Sebastien Loeb, last year's Monte Carlo winner and favourite again this weekend, to the 2003 championship by just one point after powering back from a sluggish start to the season.
After the third event he had barely a handful of points on the board, but he turned the championship around and romped to victory in the final British round.

Solberg subsequently put up another post in which he called the PMO’s office staff who complained a bunch of cry babies and refined his explanation of the “Paul Martin Luther King” metaphor.
