  Monteverdi
Established in Switzerland in 1967 by Peter Monteverdi who, during the late 1950s and early 1960s, had built, sold and raced a number of "specials" while developing the motor vehicle repair business founded by his father.
From 1976 the high-performance models were discontinued and Monteverdi concentrated on Safari, Sierra and the Sahara, based on International Harvester's Scout II and Traveller series.
Then between 1980 and 1982 Monteverdi would manufacture their own unique version of the 4 door Range Rover, however despite ambitious plans for subsequent models production would cease in 1982, and the factory was converted into a museum, the Monteverdi Car Collection, in 1985.

Monteverdi (car) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Monteverdi was a Swiss brand of luxury cars created in 1967 by Peter Monteverdi (1934 - 1998) and based in Binningen, Switzerland.
The Monteverdi Hai (in German means "Shark") 450 mid-engined 2-seater was shown at the 1970 Geneva Salon, but due to a much higher price than competing Ferrari and Lamborghini models this was not a success and only 2 are believed to have been produced.
From 1976, these high-performance models were discontinued and Monteverdi concentrated on Safari, Sierra and the Sahara- based on the International Harvester's lightline featuring the Scout II and Traveller (dubbed the short and long versions of the Sahara) off-road vehicles again featuring Chrysler V8, and later Nissan S6, engines.

Peter Monteverdi was born in Binningen, a suburb of Basel on the Franco-Swiss border on 17th June 1934.
Monteverdi agreed and became the first Ferrari concessionaire in Switzerland at just 21 years and remained the Swiss imported for 12 years.
It was one of the most handsome cars to debut at the 1967 Frankfurt show: a long lithe GT with near perfect proportions.

 1967 LAMBORGHINI Miura P400 #1021
It appears the car was imported to California from Switzerland in 1969 or 1970.
The only major damage found was to the left headlight area, where the car appears to have been in an accident (it is presumed that during the original repairs, the car was painted to white exterior).
The car was repainted in red R&M lacquer by Richard Stayman of Costa Mesa and the interior redone in tan leather by Radillo Coachworks of Costa Mesa with Wilton carpets.

 Monteverdi
Automobiles Monteverdi Ltd. was founded in 1967, and is said to have employed 170 employees and produced 1300 automobiles in 1976.
Most Monteverdis were exotics, with something of a Ferrari/Maserati look to them and powered by Chrysler's hottest V-8s, including the 426 Hemi (used in the Hai 1) and the 440.
Unfortunately, Peter Monteverdi himself was reportedly not the most friendly character, and the cars were, as noted earlier, rather rust-prone, presumably due to carelessness in preparation of the unique bodies.

Milestones of the Millennium: Claudio Monteverdi
Monteverdi bestrode the musical eras we call Renaissance and Baroque, and was the first composer to develop opera to its full dramatic and musical potential.
To emphasize the wide ranging emotions of his characters, Monteverdi subdued the traditional polyphonic structure of the Renaissance, in which all vocal elements were projected equally.
Monteverdi exploited dynamics and dissonance to convey human emotion in ways that dazzled audiences and befuddled conservative critics.

Peter Monteverdi was a passionate businessman and racing driver who—against all odds and with little capital—produced a GT coupe that had few peers in its time.
Monteverdi was a good chassis engineer and created a rectangular-section space frame of extreme rigidity for the car.
All of these cars are attractive alternatives to the typical exotics of the era, though they will never be appreciated by the average collector in the way that a Ferrari is. I have often thought that a fascinating collection could be assembled from these European cars that used American V8s.

 Monteverdi
Peter Monteverdi was Swiss automotive entrepreneur, having owned a BMW dealership, importing Ferraris and Lancias, and not least being the creator, along with Dr Alfred Hopf, of the MBM sports-racing cars.
The venture was ill fated, and towards the middle of the sixties Monteverdi decided instead to produce his own brand of luxurious sporting cars.
Monteverdi's plans did not end there though; he was determined hit the top spot on the automotive heap and out gun the likes of the Lamborghini Miura and Ferrari Daytona.

 Pietro Frua - Wikicars
Pietro Frua was born in Turin, the fourth son of Angela, a tailor, and Carlo Frua, an employee of Fiat, the centre of coachbuilding in northern Italy.
During World War II car-styling work was scarce and Frua had to turn to designing children’s cars, electric ovens and kitchen units, as well as a monocoque motorscooter.
The “Frua line” was synonymous with the good taste of a single man. He followed each car’s practical realization to the last detail of the fully functional one-offs and prototypes, often driving them to their presentation at the motor shows in Europe.

Although performance in all cars was waning in the late 1970s due to emissions requirements and gasoline shortages, Chrysler did try to create a performance image for the F body cars in the face of a gathering reputation for poor quality.
