Two additional neighborhoods are part of east central Seattle but we have not mapped them yet, they are First Hill and the Central Area.

 Montlake History by Jim Gould
Montlakes political clout had its origins in the Interlaken Improvement Club, a name that echoed names of many other community organizations in Seattle at the time.
The 1920s also marked the establishment of the Seattle Yacht Club in its present location near West Montlake Park on Portage Bay and the beginnings of a business district, essentially a one-block area between E. Lynn and E.
It evolved into the Montlake Community Club, which has for more than fifty years been doing battle with local, state, and university officials--and even the Seattle Seahawks football team--with the aim of preserving Montlakes best qualities.

Montlake: Area's central location has sizzling appeal
The nearness to the city and to nature have long made Montlake one of Seattle's most enviable neighborhoods.
Longtime Montlake residents refer to the escalating prices of neighborhood homes with words like "unbelievable" and "ridiculous." The prices have gone so high -- more than $250,000 for a bare-bones, two-bedroom, bungalow fixer-upper -- that Montlake's unofficial status as the prime UW professor enclave is seriously imperiled, if not already extinct.
Yet even the most well-heeled newcomers with jobs on the Eastside still seem to succumb to the mindset that has marked Montlake residents for decades: a fierce protectiveness about their neighborhood that leads to bitter civic battles over any major changes.
