Fawlty Towers the classic British comedy
John Cleese was inspired to write what became Fawlty Towers after he and the rest of the Monty Python team were staying at a hotel in Torquay called the Gleneagles (not to be confused with the world-famous Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire) whilst filming Monty Python's Flying Circus TV series in the early 1970s.
Later, someone from the BBC approached John Cleese to write a series for them and thankfully for all of us, John Cleese was having a temporary break from Monty Python and, along with his wife (at that time) Connie Booth, set to work writing.
Only two series of six episodes (Series One – 1975, Series Two – 1979) were ever made including classics such as A Touch Of Class, The Germans, and Waldorf Salad.

Performances --------------- Unlike many other entertainers, Monty Python's humour was not taken from live performances and then made into TV adaptions, inorder to create a larger audience.
Although the different series are easy to tell apart, they are all of equal qualtity.

Monty Python's first feature is essentially a reworking of their best skits from the first two seasons of their cult TV series Monty Python's Flying Circus, shot on film outside the usual studio sets (Nudge Nudge, for example, is set in a tavern filled with passersby).
As the TV series was as yet unseen in the U.S. at the time of this feature, And Now for Something Completely Different became for many Americans their first taste of the Pythons' brand of surreal, silly humor and remains a fond favorite.

Monty Python's Flying Circus was onder vertalers berucht om de onvertaalbaarheid ervan, omdat het zo vaak vooral om de taal zelf ging.
