Moody Air Force Base is a United States Air Force base located in Lowndes County, Georgia.
The life of the African American personnel of the base was immortalized in the comedy monologue with music, "Callin' Moody Field" by Miss Peaches, a rhythm and blues hit in the late 1950s.

On 11 August 1954 it was sent to McClellan AFB for 'Pullout' conversion (to D-45 spec) and re-emerged as an F-86D-31.
Next assignment was to 31st FIS at Larson AFB, Washington on 28 November 1954, reassigning to 322nd FIS on 18 August 1955.
Upon retirement it flew to Wright Patterson AFB on 1 November 1960 and was donated to the town of Milton, West Virginia on 28 December 1960 for display.

The 20 FW was formed at Shaw AFB in 1947 and returned in 1992 after 40 years with USAFE.

The base was named in memory of Maj. George Putnam Moody, an early Air Force pioneer killed in May 1941 while serving with the Beech Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kan. At the time of his death, the major was working on the inspection board for AT-10 transitional trainers which were later sent to Moody.
Moody won the Commander-in-Chief's Installation Excellence Award for 1991, and the 1994 Verne Orr Award, which is presented by the Air Force Association to the unit that most effectively uses human resources to accomplish its mission.
The 70th Fighter Squadron inactivated in June 2000, and operational control of the 23rd Fighter Group at Pope AFB, N.C. transferred to the 4th Fighter Wing, Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C. In Oct. 2000, the 69th Fighter Squadron began inactivating and was officially inactivated in February 2001.

The third F-4E (66-0286) was delivered to Nellis AFB in Nevada on October 2, 1967 for service testing.
Lead ballast was added to the rear fuselage to move the center of gravity aft and to destabilize the aircraft in pitch.
On December 5, 1978, it was donated to the USAF Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio, where it is now on display.

The competition is normally conducted every two years and was originally for units of Air Defence Command but was eventually expanded to incorporate air defence units from other commands, the Air National Guard as well as Canada.
Moody F-4E's were deployed for Profile V as target tugs, whilst Tyndall's own 325th Tactical Training Wing (TTW) F-15's and T-33A's flew numerous sorties as Range patrols and Chase aircraft.
F-4E 68-0447 photographed at Moody AFB during October 1984 was one of the two F-4E's that flew as targets for Profile III.
