The Moomins, however, are horrified at the prospect of having Moominvalley overrun by tourist, and in their plight finally enlist the help of the witch, who is no friend of tourists either, and she applies all her witchcraft to the task of permanently scaring the men off.

 Tove Jansson
Tove Jansson drew the comic strip Moomin for the Evening News, London, from 1953 to 1959, and then was succeeded by her brother Lars Jansson, who had helped Jansson to translate the original texts into English.
The international Moomin boom came in two waves, first in the 1950s in the West, and then in the 1960s and during the 1970s in the East Europe and other sides of the globe, including Japan.
The Moomins, in general, bore a strong resemblances to Jansson's own family - they were bohemians, lived close to nature, were tolerant towards the peculiarities of other creatures, and fond of Moominmamma's cooking.

I've loved Moomins as long as i can remember (since i saw them on TV when i was a little girl), and they're still on TV sometimes to this very day.
The others wait and wait for the moomins to arrive, but they never show up.
The 80s Moomins series made with felt (NOT the horrid cartoon version which ruined Sniff, my favourite character) has been released in it's entirity in a DVD box set.
