In fact, Moonraker's lead singer, Kelli Scarr, has such an R&B-minded vocal style that she would probably sound perfectly natural singing in the Heavies or performing a vocal duet with Badu, Davenport, or India.Arie.
Moonraker's approach does, in fact, owe a lot to the softer, smoother, side of electronica -- as opposed to techno and the harsher, more abrasive forms of rave music -- and they have obviously been greatly influenced by trip-hop, chill-out, acid jazz, and downtempo.
However, Moonraker didn't remain in Boston; in 2002, the bandmembers moved to New York City and made Brooklyn their new home.

R.I.P. Not to be confused with the James Bond movie or the restaurant in Pacifica, CA, by the same name, Moonraker was one of the few hangouts for Printer's Row residents.
Boasting a rustic maritime motif, similar to that of the Dearborn Street Oyster Bar a few blocks to the north, Moonraker patrons could enjoy fish and chips in the dining room, at the bar or outside in the sidewalk café in summer.
Moonraker tried hard to be more of a restaurant than a bar, but its success seemed to come more from its pub-like feel.

Directed and inspired by the nature of an organic groove, a pulse that somehow feels familiar to your cells, Moonraker bridges the surreal and spacious quality of dreamy colors with the earthy and grounded solidity of naturally-occuring rhythms.

Moonraker is arguably the worst of the Bond films, having an even more ludicrous script than The Man With the Golden Gun and being even more derivative of the preceding 007 films than overt parodies such as Our Man Flint and the Matt Helm series.
Roger Moore as Bond is at his most fatuous, and his first scene with Dr. Holly Goodhead (Lois Chiles), where he attempts to one-up her with his apparent knowledge of the Moonraker shuttle, depicts him as little more than an obnoxious schoolboy.
In all, the Moonraker soundtrack, while grand in scale, lacks the diversity of most Barry soundtracks, and with so many tracks having similar arrangements, it's sometimes hard to tell when one ends and another begins, especially if one has not been paying close attention.

One term that Moonraker's members have often used to describe their music is "livetronica," which is their way of saying that they have been greatly influenced by certain types of electronica but aren't totally electronic themselves.
But unlike electronica artists whose recordings are totally or mostly programmed, Moonraker sounds like an honest to God band and uses real guitar, real bass, and real drums played in real time.
Moonraker got started around 1998, when three students at Boston University -- guitarist David Moltz, bassist Khodayar Akhavi, and drummer Daniel Mintzer -- started jamming together.

THE CINEMA LASER DVD REVIEW-- MOONRAKER
MOONRAKER ($25) has always struck me as a rather weak and goofy entry in the James Bond series, that is until I saw MGM's THX certified DVD edition of the film.
MOONRAKER was released in 1979 and judging by the plot, it’s rather obvious that the producers wanted to cash in on the outer space frenzy created by the STAR WARS phenomenon.

Indeed, while parts of Moonraker are rather silly (a trend during Roger Moore's tenure), solid special effects, well-executed action sequences, and a strict reliance upon the "Bond Formula" keep this film among Moore's better entries as the British superspy.
While Moonraker's centerpiece is the final half-hour, which takes place aboard an Earth-orbiting space station, this is actually the least entertaining portion of the film.

"Moonraker" is perhaps the most lavishly bizarre and absurd of the James Bond adventures.
From here onward, the film finds Bond engaging the aid of a NASA specialist, the sultry and ironically intellectual (I say ironically because Bond girls of this vintage were usually nothing more than half-naked wallpaper for our hero to bed and betray) Holly Goodhead (Lois Chiles).

moonraker legend   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
The legend of the Wiltshire moonrakers is well known, but while the outline of the story is well documented, filling in the details largely depends on which book you read.
The moral of the story is that, despite their earthy accents, Wiltshire folk are not as slow-witted as some would believe and, to this day, people born in the county are proud to call themselves moonrakers.
Just when the incident took place is far from clear, particularly as smuggling is by no means restricted to any one period in history, but at least one historian has claimed it originated in the 18th century.

When it came out in 1979, the Moonraker soundtrack album, at a mere thirty minutes, was the shortest of all the James Bond albums.
The film is famously let down by an excess of light humour, almost justifying a subtitle of 'Carry On James Bond'.
