	MOONSORROW
		Moonsorrow was formed in autumn 1995 by cousins Henri and Ville Sorvali who desired to expand their musical expression onto a more profound level.
		The official debut of Moonsorrow was realized in winter 1997 from two new songs which Henri had already arranged to their final.
		Right after "Metsä" Moonsorrow also recorded a two-song promotape that was supposed to mark the direction of their musical development.

		I think that may have to do with the fact that Moonsorrow's guitarist/keyboardist/accordion player Henri Sorvali also plays keyboards for Finntroll, and they may be trying to distance Moonsorrow's music from Finntroll a bit.
		It's just Moonsorrow's Humppa influence was never as dominant a force as Finntroll's was, and it's even less dominant on this new album.
		Moonsorrow's lyrics are written and sung in Finnish and thankfully the lyric book includes English translations to these mighty tales of pagan life.

	Moonsorrow - Voimasta Ja Kunniasta - review
		Moonsorrow is a Finnish band like those, but they perform very good music that could be categorised as Viking metal.
		I once read their music was in the vein of Bathory´s “Hammerheart” and similar things but I don´t really think so: this is not the typical viking metal where the main traits are repetitive melodies, “we´re boozing in a tavern and we are proud to plunder foreign shores” vocals, boring drums and so on.
		As I say, this band is ahead of the pack of viking bands; first of all, Moonsorrow give preponderance to aggresive vocals in the vein of classic fl metal, being their use of clean singing lines very sensible and wise.

		Formed in 1995 by two cousins (the Sorvalis), Moonsorrow appeared to come out of nowhere in 2001 with no less than three releases, though in actuality their debut had been recorded over a year earlier and the second release (Tama Ikuinen Talvi) is a remixed version of an earlier demo.
		But while Finntroll songs are quick and to the point, Moonsorrow specializes on sprawling epics (moreover, Moonsorrow doesn't incorporate the humppa influences).
		Simply put, Moonsorrow is absolutely the best Viking metal band in existence today, and their last two albums in particular are metallic gems of the highest quality.

		I own most of Moonsorrow's material, highly recommend them to anyone who hasn't heard them, have yet to hear Verisäkeet though, but Suden Uni is my favourite album so far and its a must have if you haven't got it already.
		Moonsorrow were the band that got me into Viking and folk metal, so I love them! The first song I heard was 'Sankarihauta' and it remains my favourite.
		I heard that Moonsorrow is now over, and the members formed Finntroll.

		Moonsorrow are a band quite like nothing I've ever heard before - an extremely talented lot of more than proficient musicians who make a brand of music that is truly unique - and epic.
