  TN Encyclopedia: MOORE COUNTY
The Tennessee General Assembly established Moore County in 1871 in honor of General William Moore, who was one of Lincoln County's first settlers and a long-time member of the general assembly.
Lincoln County sued to reclaim its land, and Moore County was reduced to a mere 129 square miles.
Moore County's fertile soils and close proximity to the Mulberry and Elk Rivers were excellent for growing corn, wheat, and oats.

Prior to the year 1882 the general elections in the territory composing the county, for State and National purposes, were controlled by the old counties, the same as though Moore County had never been organized.
In 1882, after the census of 1880 had been published, and Moore County was recognized in redistricting the state, it held its first election for officers of the legislature.

I was born in Moore County on Louse Creek and I'm very interested in getting the Moore County, TN Heritage Book finished and published.
