		Moraito is among the "newer" generation of flamenco virtuosos.
		Moraito and his other compatriots of the flamenco guitar are not mere accompanists, but rather composers in their own right.
		I consider this movement to be the new renaissance of the guitar and it is happening in the country which most of us think of when we speak of the guitar.

		Morao y Oro is devoted to the music of Moraito and contains six of his compositions: Rompeserones, Feria del caballo, Terremoto, Buleriando, Bronce and Alameda Vieja, which are, respectively tangos, sevillanas, siguiriya, bulería, soleá and rondeña and are all taken from the recording Morao y Oro (Auvidis Ethnic B6772).
		In transcribing these pieces from the recordings, Alain Faucher worked with Moraito himself, so presumably these published pieces are as near as one can get to the original.
		Moraito uses the "Jerez" style of flamenco and this is explained in the highly informative introduction to the book.

		Moraito was born Manuel Moreno Junquera in 1956 in the Santiago district of Jerez de la Frontera, a town in the Andalusian region; his family was already renowned for its musical ability, and his uncle Manuel Morao was one of the finest flamenco guitarists the town had ever produced.
		After winning a flamenco guitar competition, the teenaged Moraito (also known affectionately as Moraito Chico) was invited to join his first professional band; he continued playing with various groups and on his own, his career interrupted only by a stint in the military.
		In 1992, Moraito released his first album, Morao y Oro, which was greeted with high praise in the flamenco community; it was eventually issued in the U.S. in 1995.

		Bulerías 2 is by Moraito Chico and has wonderful rhythmic complexities with some classic falsetas.
		Bulerás 3 is sung by Juan Moneo 'El Torta' accompanied by Moraito Chico - it starts out with muffled strings to get the beat going and then Moraito 'presents'the melody as El Torta warms up to the cante (se templa).
		Bulerías 4, again by El Torta and Moraito, is a more 'arranged' piece that lacks some of the excitement of the previous, more raw examples.

		It felt as though we were all hanging out in a cozy tavern in Jerez, having a few drinks and relaxing for an hour or two with a friend.
		There were some minor sound problems: Moraito's guitar signal was too hot and was making popping sounds when the overloaded signal went into the sound system--probably needed some compression.
		Funny thing is that this was the first time he had seen the cover of this newly released version of his recording.
