Fusion Comix--The Best Of Comic Book Fandom--Morbius The Living Vampire
Morbius was not a true vampire, but was a pseudo-vampire, a humanoid being who had various drives and characteristics in common with true vampires, who are actually corpses reanimated through supernatural means and in possession of supernatural abilities.
Morbius did not die to become a vampire, and since he was never a true vampire, he was unaffected when Doctor Strange used the Montesi Formula of the Darkhold to destroy all of Earth's vampires.
Morbius slept during the day due to his aversion to sunlight, but direct sunlight would not cause his body to decompose as it would a true vampire's body; also, Morbius's sleeping state was much like that of an ordinary human's, complete with dreams, whereas true vampires sink into coma-like trances during the daytime.

Don Markstein's Toonopedia: Morbius, the Living Vampire
Morbius the Living Vampire started out as a Spider-Man villain, appearing in the wall-crawler's 101st issue (October, 1971).
He was originally Dr. Michael Morbius, a Nobel-winning scientist dying of a rare blood disease, who attempted to find a cure by experimenting with vampire bats (which in reality are tiny creatures that wound their victims and lap up a little blood while it's flowing, but in the Marvel Universe apparently have more potent qualities).
Morbius also had a regular-sized, full-color series, scripted by Mike Friedrich (best known as a comics industry talent agent) and drawn by Paul Gulacy (Master of Kung Fu).

Morbius the Living Vampire, full name Michael Morbius, is a fictional character in the Marvel Comics universe, intended as a tragic anti-hero with vampire-like powers that actually had a biochemical origin.
Morbius first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #101 (Oct, 1971), in which he is attacked by the Lizard and defeated when Spider-Man and the Lizard join forces.
Morbius does not possess any of the mystical vulnerabilities that supernatural vampires are subject to, such as to garlic, holy water, or silver.

 Outpost Gallifrey: Reviews
Contributing to the atmosphere of 'The Brain of Morbius' is the Sisterhood of Karn, who despite ending up on the same side as the Doctor in the fight against Morbius is by no means particularly friendly.
Whereas Solon is motivated by his obsession with Morbius to commit murder, the Sisterhood are motivated by their jealous possession of the Elixir of Life to commit atrocities that are at least as bad.
Overall, 'The Brain of Morbius' is a highly effective if unusual story, and after the dreadful 'The Android Invasion' it marks a return to the generally high quality of the season as a whole.
