Greater Servitor Races - A Scientific Approach, Volume 1 - Ghouls
Mordiggian does figure prominently in the story "The Charnel God" by Clark Ashton Smith.
Mordiggian dwells within a temple in the city of Zul-Bha-Sair, and is served by a cult of ghoul priests.
The case of Pickman, the sorry state of Agent Nancy, the disturbing trend of the neophyte ghoul faction, the ghouls' reckless behaviour during the French Revolution, the list goes on and on.

 Cosmology/Theen
Sometime in the past (Dreamlands time being notoriously difficult to estimate, but sometime since the quest of Randolph Carter) an attack was launched on Ooth-Nargai by Zejul-far-Hith, a hardy war-leader from the wastes north of Lhosk.
Unfortunately, the god Mordiggian intervened, and the victims were not cured, but merely preserved.
Nonetheless, the people of Theen venerate Mordiggian (in fact, it is the last bastion of that god's worship, outside of vast sections of The Underworld), and the vengeful goddess Hagarg Ryonis.

Cult: Mordiggian is worshipped exclusively by ghouls, although other races may offer up their dead to the Charnel God as appeasement and not as actual worship.
Notes: Although Mordiggian is known mostly within the Dreamlands, it is assumed that the Great Old One may also enter the world of waking men through the same grave-tunnels and tombs that its ghoul followers use.
This blindness lasts only as long as the dreamer/investigator is within the presence of Mordiggian, and sight returns instantly upon the god's departure.

Ghouls devour the bodies of the dead in the manner prescribed by their deity, Mordiggian, and in so doing their lives are extended.
Their worship of Mordiggian is done by doing what they’d do anyway -- eating bloated, dead bodies – so there’s no need for them to be fanatical or overly-energized at all.
On the other hand, it is quite possible that the Ghouls were the ones who introduced Mordiggian to Humans, as evidence of Mordiggian’s worship amongst the Ghouls predates that of mortals.

Down the hill from the gate of Mordiggian came a tumult as legions of men in strange mail descended quickly from the caves to the valley below.
The object from the sky had landed in the plain, and was clearly the object of concern for the legion.
"It is not seemly that they should issue from the caves of the Folk, and disregard the warning of Father Mordiggian that reserves those caverns for the Folk." Ghost had patiently tried to explain the principles of Science to the Night People, and had not met with much success.

 The Elder Gods
The Great Ghoul, Mordiggian, is another ancient god, said to be a brother of Set and the uncle of the Arcturan Titan of the Underworld, Cthonus.
He is a horrible deity, called the Charnel God, who has no worshippers, at least among the ranks of Men, though some do offer him their dead as a form of placation of his hunger.
Mordiggian is never represented, except as a shadow within other scenes, as one of the royal murals in the Marcosian capitol of Assenero, called "The Slaying of Khoora Bronzeblade", in which the hero Khoora's death scene is suplemented by a curious darkness between the fallen Khoora and his adversary, representing the presence of Mordiggian.
