Although not as terrifying or mighty as many of the other perversions of Morgoth, Orcs have definitely had a greater negative impact on the history of Middle-earth than all the other entities combined.
April 16th,2003 09:03 AM But if you don't count the Balrogs as creations of Morgoth for there spirits were made by the Valar, you can't call orcs creations of Morgoth either for the foundingfathers of the orcs are elves created by Illuvatar, then taken and "changed" by Morgoth into what we now call orc's.

she is tempted to take the ring and become one but that is the test she passes when she refuses and is eventually admitted into the west again.
For the ring to make someone more powerful than Sauron (Sauron in possession of the ring, that is), that person would need to be more powerful than Sauron in the first place, and surrender their will willingly.
If Morgoth was around to take possession of the Ring, I think he would be able to bend it to his will and enhance his own powers using it.

The Barrow-Downs Discussion Forum - Corruption and Evil... leading to power loss?
From being the most powerful soldier of Morgoth, he is destroyed by the mere melting of his Ring.
The reason Sauron was destroyed when the ring was, is that he put all his spirit and power into the ring so it could control all the other rings.
Morgoth was corrupting orcs, and in the Silmarillion it says that this took alot of his power.

White Council archive | A question concerning the One ring | Tolkien and the Inklings discussion
As long as the ring exists Sauron is able to take a shape of power (even though it takes him a considerable amount of time to do so after his fall in the days of the last alliance).
Let me explain my question: I do not mean to imply that Sauron can make USE of the ring (as an instrument of control (which is why it was made)), but only that he can use his 'native/original' power that he vested in it.
Robert Foster writes that 'the mere existence of the ring gives Sauron enough power to crush the west' (I paraphrase...none of my books are with me at the moment..).

Planet-Tolkien: Am i the only one who pities Gollum?
I guess i do pity Gollum a bit for what was happening to him-and the ring and all, though that was his choice-at first-he could have not taken the ring, and not hid with it, and not keep it to himself.
The Ring didn't make these people who they are and didn't need to create characteristics in anyone it touched, it merely sought out what was already there and encouraged/magnified it, thus ensuring that the evil side of the character navigates the character's destiny.
If the ring really had such great temptation on everyone, then it would be safe to say that everyone would have fallen under his power, which is as we know, untrue.

The enlargement of Bilbo's 'magic ring' into the supremely potent and dangerous Ruling Ring of the Dark Lord is traced and the precise moment is seen when, in an astonishing and unforeseen leap in the earliest narrative, a Black Rider first rode into the Shire, his significance still unknown.
In brief outlines and penciled drafts dashed down on scraps of paper are the first entry of Galadriel; the earliest ides of the history of Gondor; and the original meeting of Aragorn with Eowyn, its significance destined to be wholly transformed.
In volume ten, Morgoth's Ring, the narrative was taken only as far as the natural dividing point in the work, when Morgoth destroyed the Trees of Light and fled from Valinor bearing the stolen Silmarils.
