In one of Chack's drawings, reproduced on postcards and on the Gloomy Bear calendar, a small boy is dreaming about all the lovely things he'd like to do with his teddy bear: cuddle him, give him a bath, carry him around in a cardboard box.
In an interview with Japanese Streets, Mori Chack said, "It is only natural that a bear attacks humans.

 Wootini
Mori is a self-taught Japanese illustrator that was discovered by Pony Canyon while selling his postcards on the streets of Osaka.  His works focus on the confusing reality of today's world while bringing a touch of beauty -his famous Gloomy Bears are a perfect example.
The word is pronounced 'gurumi' in Japanese; 'nuigurumi' translates as 'stuffed toy'.  These bears are drawn in a style similar to most well-known Japanese cute illustration like Hello Kitty or Nyan Nyan Nyanko.  The difference is that Mori focuses on the reality rather the cuteness - bears often attack humans.
You can read more in Japanese about Mori Chack and his works here and more about Pony Canyon here.
