Indie (music) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In popular music, indie music (from independent) is any of a number of genres, scenes, subcultures and stylistic and cultural attributes, characterised by perceived independence from commercial pop music and mainstream culture and an autonomous, do-it-yourself (DIY) approach.
Secondly, however pervasive any style of music (even one as broadly defined as "guitar pop" or "post-punk rock") may become at a particular time, it by definition cannot embody all of indie music, as, by indie's nature, there will be indie artists, labels and entire local scenes operating outside of this style and its definitions.
Music ranging from alternative rock to punk rock to experimental music has long existed in indie scenes, often independent from one another.

Originally the music was composed due to an order from choreographer Gabrielle Staiger and had its première under the title 'This Very Moment' with the Arazzo dance ballet at the Brotfabrik, Bonn, in February 2000.
But with their new 6 track mlp on Morr music even the listeners who are new to the Isan network will soon recognize that the definition of dodgy old noise and analogue synth-sounds becomes a completely new dimension.
While in a way still juvenile enough to be real mood music, the tracks are mature in their reduction on essential components which give them a lot of depth and spaciality.

Morr Music has made itself quite an individual reputation for a label that has thus far failed to come up with much of a coherent sound.
Or maybe it's the fact that the "Morr sound" is inherently subdued, bordering on nondescript, which is not at all a bad thing.
This Belgian artist has close ties to Morr producer Styrofoam [+], who worked extensively with the younger Sermeus on his first album, shaping him into a striking image of himself -- albeit with a vocal sensibility that the tutor himself does not possess.

Fleischmann is also an admitted fan of pop music (evidenced by his inclusion of a cover version of Natalie Imbruliga's "Torn" as a bonus track on the CD version of Poploops released by the Austrian label Charizma), which probably explains why the album's melodies bounce around your head for days after listening.

Morr Music is even less of an IDM label than Tigerbeat6-- many of its releases run toward minimal techno and electro.
Morr's artists take the sounds and techniques of IDM, techno, electronica-- the textures, the relentless formalism-- and fashion them into something that often points toward pop music.
Which is why it's natural that the Morr crew have put together this two-disc tribute to shoegazer messiahs Slowdive, a band whose whole focus was the tension between elaborate textures and vivid pop.

Solvent has created his own unique version of electro-pop: too elegant and sincere for the electroclash set, too complex and contemporary to sound like it was recorded in 1981, and too seeped in the time-honoured traditions of melody, songwriting and hands-on synthesis to be lost in the overcrowded world of IDM.

The disparate sounds they layer together come off as genuinely imaginative, while the lyrical and titular allusions to ghosts, water, and space accentuate the musical echoes of both the natural world and fantasy ones, while giving the feeling that you're floating, transcending, being transported.
Despite the sadness and gravity that often lurks inside their songs, each successive Mùm album brings out more critics who claim the group's music is childish, too "twee" or delicate.
Dreamers, naturalists, and fantasy writers, Mùm nonetheless are creating music that offers tangible pleasures, that appeals to the visceral side of listeners, not just the imagining side.
